His “funny phone calls” were masterpieces. He could put people on like no one I’ve ever heard. He used to call the Frats and Sororities at a the SoCal colleges and universities and have loads of fun!

Well, you were lucky cause you could hear him regularly. I couldn’t hear him in the suburban Chicago area where I grew up. Only when I was toolin out to CA in 1964 and after.
