Chris Christie Dealt Himself Fatal Blow When He Walked Arm-in-Arm with Obama

RUSH: All the media can't wait to go destroy Chris Christie. What the people in the media don't understand... Well, maybe they do and they're just it is not taking the chance.

What they don't understand is that Chris Christie probably dealt himself the fatal blow by walking the boardwalk with Obama.

My guess is that people inside the Beltway have long forgotten that and think that, oh, that's gonna be such a distant memory. That's not gonna hurt Christie by the time the 2016 primaries come around. And this is another example of how genuinely out of touch people inside the Beltway are, 'cause I'm telling you for, I don't know how many, but it's a sizable number of Republican general election and primary voters, Christie ended his chances one week before the 2012 elections by embracing Barack Obama. And that's not something people are gonna forget.

This Bridgegate thing, the Democrats are not taking any chances. You know what's driving Bridgegate? There are two polls that show that only Christie defeats Hillary in 2016, and that's it. There are two polls and I can't even name the polls for you. I think one of them might be Gallup. But remember these people live and die, because the polls are them, they do the polls, and to them the poll equals news. The poll is not public opinion and a reflection of it. The poll is news to them. They go out and do a poll, they look at the results, and that happens to be reality in their world.

So they have two polls, the media does, that say -- and there are other polls that don't say this, but those are thrown out and not considered. There are two polls that suggest the only person that can beat Hillary on the Republican side if the election were today is Christie, and that's why they're going to try to take him out now on Bridgegate. That's it. That's the only reason. Well, it's not the only reason, but it's the 99% reason. The other one or two percent is just what they do. Republican scandal? Great, let's take 'em out, let's destroy 'em. It's just what they do, like lions kill wildebeests.

The media sees a Republican in a scandal either unreal, fake, or genuine, and it's, "Okay, let's stay on this until the guy's finished." So there's that element, plus the fact that they are in fear because they have two polls that show Christie as -- Those polls are worthless and meaningless, but that's all they've got and they're not taking any chances. As far as Bridgegate's concerned, I have no clue.

Is Bridgegate gonna be something that impacts Christie's presidential fortunes in 2016? Far, far, far less than walking arm in arm with Barack Obama one week before the 2012 election when you did the keynote for Romney at the convention and you didn't really do that well. This is what they don't see. I guarantee you, the people inside the Beltway, they think that's nothing, I mean, people forget about that. They're worried that Bridgegate, simply 'cause it's the latest, is gonna be the determining thing, and I have no idea how Bridgegate's gonna come out. I'm like everybody else. If he told the truth and he didn't know about any of this, the only thing you can say is, "Well, why not? I mean, why didn't he know?"

There's another question besides that. This aide of his that he fired, the woman who sent the e-mail: "Okay, time for traffic problems in Fort Lee." The fact that that meant what it meant means that there is a culture there. If I, in my normal day, let's say I got an e-mail: "Okay, time for traffic problems." I wouldn't have the slightest idea what to do with that. But somebody did. They knew exactly what that meant. That, to me, is quite telling, on both ends. The aide sends the e-mail, and the recipient of the e-mail knew what to do with it. Okay, time for traffic problems in Fort Lee.

Okay, well, what kind of stuff like that went on before that that was essentially the education? 'Cause I doubt there was ever a meeting, "Look, there may be a day when we'll send you an e-mail, and it'll say 'Time for traffic problems in Fort Lee.' What that means is, you close down three lanes or two lanes for a month and you cause all kinds of traffic so that we can end up blaming it on the mayor there." I doubt that meeting was ever held.

So what the e-mail means is, whoever sent it -- well, the woman that sent it and the recipient knew that that means the mayor of Fort Lee is a scumbag and it's time to get even with this scumbag, and we're gonna pay this scumbag back by ruining traffic in his town. So there's a culture there. Eventually somebody will get on to that. Right now they're just focused on whether or not he lied.

I understand your logic. I think it’s reasoned. It seems to me we should simply reject the media until it wants to look at some real scandals.

Traffic-gate?

What about:

Fast and furious Gate?
Benghazi Gate?
NSA Gate?
Jobs Gate?
Spending Gate?
Obamacare Gate?

I mean, every one of these is more important than some traffic jam, and yet what does the press focus on.

And we’ll let them get away with it.

I guess if you have C-R-I-S-T somewhere in your name and Bowbama reaches around to scratch his arse, he’s gonna poke one of them in the eye. Chris Christie or Charlie Crist...could it be a death knell for Christie like it was for Twinkle Toes Crist?

I have said all along that Christie has no interest in a White House bid in 2016 -- or at any other time.

If anything, I suspect he was always angling for a spot as the U.S. Attorney General in a Republican administration -- a natural position for a former Federal prosecutor. Maybe he sabotaged Romney's campaign in his own small way after finding out that someone else was being lined up for the job.

If that sounds outlandish, just consider this: Bridget Kelly, his staff member who was fired the other day after these e-mails and text messages came out, used to work for another former Federal prosecutor and liberal Republican from the Northeast who may have been given serious consideration for that role: Rudy Giuliani.

It has nothing to do with traffic

It has to do with how Christie handled an emergency, assuming he's telling the truth. Once he was assured that his staff wasn't involved, a governor who cared about people would've said "I don't care what the cause of the problem is, let's do everything we can to get that trafiic snarl taken care of". Nobody's brought up the bad governing conclusion that comes from believing Christie.

Of course we should let it be used to destroy Christie. Conservatives are sick of the RNC and their friends in high places choosing candidates conservatives don't support, then saying it's our fault they lose. They've shown us they'd rather lose elections than cede power to constitutional conservatives. Christie, their current fave, was a real bad choice, and not just because he doesn't support any of our issues....by his own admission in this situation, he's a lousy governor. If the ptb try to give us Jeb Bush or Paul Ryan or someone else who isn't a constitutional conservative, we should be just as thrilled if the dems and the media destroy them, too.

With any luck, only Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Rand Paul and the others who stand with them will be left when primary season comes around.

Christie's grope-fest with Obama was the straw that broke the camel's back.
He was a questionable choice to begin with but his exuberance at strutting around with Obama
coupled with his lukewarm support of the Romney candidacy confirmed his status as a big RINO.
IMHO he has definately lost any chance at winning the Tea Party and Constitutional conservatives.

Just be too busy to meet with him publicly.

Is Mister Christie that selfish and dirty?

Yes...look at his keynote speech for Romney, it was a keynote speech for Christie. .

Well..., I wouldn’t argue against that point. It’s entirely possible that’s all he was looking for. I do think popularity rising as it did there for a while, he may have been seduced by it. Your point is reasoned.

I wouldn’t want to vote for Christie. I might just sit it out. Course look what we have in there now. It would be hard to sit out again. I did vote Romney holding my nose, but McCain was too much of a turncoat for me to vote for him. No freakin’ way!

Look, I’m not saying Christie has done good here. I think he may be problematic on this issue. It’s still a traffic jam vs major nation and international scandals.

Which deserve air time? Christie, for this? Nah. Sorry, this media should be laughed out of town on this one, and I think there very well may be more shoes to drop on this.

Where was the tenacity and follow-up on Obama malfeasance?

I wrote this ignorant sack of blubber off when he went berserk over criticism of a muzzie judge he had appointed:

“Ignorance is behind the criticism of Sohail Mohammed,” he told a reporter asking about the complaints that he may be inadequate to be a judge because he defended Muslim Americans who were wrongly arrested post-9/11. “He is an extraordinary American who is an outstanding lawyer and played an integral role in the post-September 11th period in building bridges between the Muslim American community in this state and law enforcement,” Gov. Christie argued, adding that he was “disgusted, candidly, by some of the questions he was asked… at the Senate judiciary committee.”

But it was a follow-up question on the fear of Sharia Law that set the governor off. “Sharia Law has nothing to do with this at all, it’s crazy!” he cried. “The guy is an American citizen!” He concluded that the “Sharia Law business is just crap… and I’m tried of dealing with the crazies,” adding with disgust and frustration that “it’s just unnecessary to be accusing this guy of things just because of his religious background.”

Christie will not be forgiven for setting up the pitch for Obongo to win in Autumn 2012. NEVER. EVER! Traitor.

I agree with you, AC. The trumped up story about Crispy wanting to run for POTUS comes from a plant, aka the media. When has anyone heard Crisp say he wanted it? AG sounds more like a position(other than spooning Bam) that he may like.

That walk and love fest with Obama—ONE WEEK before the election was a stab in the back—He is a modern Benidict Arnold to the Republican Party. He should be drummed out of the RINO Republican party. We have enough traitors in our ranks. Not that I was a big Fan of Romney—he would have endded Obamacare with a stroke of the pen. Now we have more pain, more suffering and more entitlements—as well as three more years of mis-rule—Even Hillary would be an Improvement!
