Heightened attention to the crime of sexual assault in the U.S. military may be causing more people to come forward and report problems. Defense officials cite the increased awareness as a possible reason the number of reported sexual assaults rose by more than 50 percent this year. acronym More than 5,000 reports of sexual assault were filed during the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, compared to the 3,374 in 2012, according to early data obtained by The Associated Press. About 10 percent of the 2013 reports involved incidents that occurred before the victim got into the military, up from just 4 percent only a year ago.
That increase, officials said, suggests that confidence in the system is growing and that victims are more willing to come forward. While cautious in their conclusions, officials said surveys, focus groups and repeated meetings with service members throughout the year suggest that the number of actual incidents — from unwanted sexual contact and harassment to violent assaults — remained largely steady.

Honestly, what do you expect when you designate the US Armed Forces as some alternate career opportunity to the civilian work force and then allow all, every categotry of perverted sexual deviants in as members of the armed services, having them living, sleeping, eating together, did you really expect otherwise? When you've created all sorts of sexual incendiary scenarios by having all sorts of deviants, perverts with working living side-by-side it's inevitable that these impulsive sexual predators aren't going to be able to control themselves.
That what the Pentagon gives credit for the increase in sexual assaults as that of being the heightened attention to the crime of sexual assault in the U.S. military as being the cause for more people to come forward and report problems is an absolute bald-faced lie. The increase in sexual assaults has nothing to do with "heightened attention" to the crime of sexual assault and everything to do with there being all sorts of new groups of sexual deviants labeled with unrecognizable ACRONYMS involved in sexual assault as a result of the orientation of the new Army.

The Obama administration is withholding medical and other benefits from same-sex spouses of military members, but Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. says he can no longer defend the law that authorizes the practice.
Conservatives are charging that Mr. Holder is going back on Pentagon promises to adhere to the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) in the September repeal of the ban on open gays in the military.
Military promises to enforce DOMA, which defines marriage as the union of one man and one woman, induced some fence-sitting members of Congress to support the administration’s push to repeal the ban: The Pentagon would not recognize same-sex marriages, thus would not extend an array of military benefits to same-sex spouses.
However, Mr. Holder’s Justice Department stopped defending DOMA in court challenges in February 2011.
What’s more, the attorney general last month sided with gay-rights activists in a lawsuit against Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta demanding benefits for spouses of legally married gay service members.

The obvious solution is to ban men from the military.
I had heard before that a very large percentage of the assaults are GAY & LESBIAN attacks. It’s like around or over 50% from what I recall.
The media doesn’t want to talk about that much because it wouldn’t be PC.
Isn’t it curious how sexual assaults increased the minute the military welcomed homos with open arms and gave them the okay to openly parade their deviancy.

Obama and all of his toadies in the administration have it as Goal Number One to destroy/compromise all of the institutions that made this country great. Like the US Military, NASA, the Boy Scouts, education system, healthcare...

Not to be hoped for under the hegemon of the Current Regime, but someday, and it has to be soon, this social experimentation that is going on in our armed forces has to be brought to a halt. Especially when it is gone so badly awry.

One of the things I learned in my long life is that the urge to reproduce is stronger within Homo sapiens than it appears to be within any other animal species, and if it hadn’t been so, we’d have become extinct long ago. If you put males and females of our species together in close contact for any length of time, there will be sexual contact, and how these “experts” failed to see this problem surfacing in our military is a mystery to me.
The article also didn't mention the number of same sex violations, as opposed to male v. female. I wonder why...

I fail to see how emasculating the military is in any way beneficial, indeed we are sowing the seeds of a disaster that will dwarf the debacle of obamacare.
The only solution, which is now impossible, is to purge the services of females and female wannabes.
I wonder what is happening with reporting of male on male and female on female sexual assaults? The military knows, but they apparently aren’t saying.
It’s not that sexual assault is on the increase because gays and lesbians are now allowed to openly serve. It’s because those being assaulted are becoming more competent in the system. Yeah, that’s the ticket.
The BS these people put out. And they get away with it because of those who love the left more than they stand on principles.

You didn’t want to be in the female dorms in the USCG Cape May New Jersey camp. The stories I heard about what went on in there will send shivers down your spine. Unless your in to that sort of thing.
Does anyone care to take a guess at how many assaults will be plublic information when a homosexual assaults another homosexual or heterosexual? Anyone?
