President Obama is using Pope Francis to foster wealth redistribution ideas in his speeches on the importance of reducing the gap between rich and poor.
Now that the President’s message of “Hope and Change” has drastically soured over his last few years in office, Obama is hoping the popular pontiff’s vitality will rub off on him. Michael Peppard, a professor of politics and the papacy at Fordham University, posits, "I think Obama probably wants to tap into some of the energy, and tap into some of it for his own message."
Obama quoted Francis in a recent speech on fiscal policy this month: "How can it be that it is not a news item when an elderly homeless person dies of exposure, but it is news when the stock market loses 2 points?" Although the President has tangled with the Catholic Church on a variety of issues, most notably the contraceptive provisions in the Affordable Care Act, Obama now sees the Pope as an ally.
Larry Snyder, President of Catholic Charities, is distrustful of Obama embedding Francis’s words into his political speeches. "The danger I see in it is that the pope is not a politician," he cautioned. "When the pope speaks, there's a consistent teaching. And the danger would be other people pick and choose, 'I like this, but I don't like that.'”
Obama has employed a “pick and choose approach” when it comes to the teachings of the Catholic Church. Expressing values antithetical to the teachings of the Catholic Church, the President has announced his approval for gay marriage and is an advocate of abortion. However, Obama views Pope Francis as like-minded when it comes to social issues of immigration or increasing funding for welfare programs. That’s what happens when a pope messes in politics. This lesson should have been learned back in the Middle Ages, but apparently we have to make the same mistakes over and over.
At a National Prayer Breakfast, Obama arrogantly misappropriated Jesus's spiritual challenge to individuals, claiming those words as validating and authorizing abusive use of coercive power by himself and his cronies to "take" from some in order to buy votes and accumulate more power to themselves--all in the name of "helping" the beneficiaries of such unconstitutional "takings."

Fine. But will he “channel” the Pope’s anti-abortion, anti-euthanasia, anti homosexual marriage messages as well?

It is considered his "indirect" authority in the affairs of the world.
His direct authority is only within the Catholic Church.
An income tax is not the same as a wealth tax.
Income is for workers, and an income tax is a tax on the acquisition of wealth.
A wealth tax is a tax on current assets.
Now do you expect that those “wealthy democRAT donors” are going to support a wealth tax, or a raise in income taxes.
The true goal of an income tax is to inhibit the ability to acquire wealth, not to redistribute wealth from those who already have it.

Don’t worry, when the Pope learns what has been happening to Sunday donations for the past few years he may clarify his remarks. We can’t render unto God what Caesar has seized for re-distribution.

Strictly speaking I suspect that there's truth in what you say.My having mentioned "taxes" in an earlier post was meant in the broader sense....that being that the Rats think that you and I,but not Soros,have *far* too much and they want to give a good chunk of what we earn,and *have* earned,to "the most vulnerable among us" so that those "vulnerable" ones will vote for *them*.In addition to preventing the likes of *us* becoming "wealthy" they *do* want to redistribute wealth....just not their own.

Oh, no. What they want is to keep working people working. That way the unwashed masses don’t have the resources to “invade and defile” their favorite haunts like Jackson Hole, Martha’s Vineyard, Palm Beach, etc.
If you were to develop the next “pet rock” fad with a finite lifetime, all that you earned would be income subject to a confiscatory tax. Thus, you could never generate enough “income after taxes” to develop real wealth. Even though your new pet rock idea if left untaxed would leave you with the resources to not have to work for the rest of your life and maybe some of your direct descendents as well.
Tax it, and sufficiently high enough, you end up having to work all of your life. Generating more “income tax revenue” and not have the free time or disposable resources to counter their leftist schemes.

I would love to go back to the 1800s and tell Marx, the man who disparaged and mocked religion that his biggest champion in 2014 is the Catholic Pope.
I’m sure Karl would get a kick out of that.
I’m sure it would be too much to ask Obama and the Federal Reserve to stop the Financial Repression which keeps my savings earning next to nothing while transferring $500 billion, mostly to the biggest banks, from savers like me and from pensioners? Obama and friends are some of the biggest reasons why our distorted crony capital system is boosting those who control the financial system while squashing the little guy through financial repression, central planning, market distortions, unwise and excessive regulations, favoritism, uncontrolled entitlement spending, etc., etc., etc...
They are burning the house down while promising that they and only they can and will put the fire out.

Obama does not have the moral authority to lecture anyone about anything.
I am all for it let us start by rechanneling the wealth of rich Liberals to the rest of us.
