The majority were against this law from the very beginning yet the Rats insisted on shoving it down our throats. I hope they burn in Hell for it.
Anyone the Republicans wanted to have waived...
I looked in my county and the cheapest Bronze plan was 1053 a month with a 12500 dollar deductible. Subsidies zeroed out at about 70k. So you would be looking at 24 k before the so called insurance even kicked in. Oh yeah, a check up, free birth control and pediatric dental for my 58 yo self and my 57 yo wife. What a bargain.
My personal favorites are the 2 am Emergency Vaginal Discharge, or the 2am Emergency STD check.
There, fixed it.
” IMO none of those situations constituted an ER visit at 1a.m”
That’s a bit harsh....if you have an infant in pain,,it’s not cool to let it ride until the next time the doctor’s office is open. Well, maybe for you it is. BTW - most patients can’t diagnose their own ear infections, or UTIs,,and rashes can turn into hives which can be life threatening. Hindsight is 20/20,,and btw,,your husbands thumb? I suspect that wasn’t life threatening either,,but you have no problem disparaging the other patients.
I read an article last night, either CNBC or Bloomberg, can't recall which one, but it gave me a reality jolt.
In October and November, almost 4 million people signed up for Medicaid, which is the “free” health insurance for the poor.
About 1 million other people signed up and paid a first month premium for one of the ObamaCare “metal” plans.
60% of those people bought the “Silver Plan,” which is the only one that gives subsidies on co-pay, deductible, and total out-of-pocket expenses.
So, 5 million people signed up in the first two months.
4.6 million of those people got free insurance or subsidized insurance.
Anybody want to guess who those 4.6 million people are going to vote for next November?
One final issue.....
The insurance companies have been conspicuously passive and silent about the impending losses they will likely take on the policies they are currently writing.
The reason?
All of them believe the federal government will bail them out during the first few years of ObamaCare.
Think about the political damage that the MSM and the Democrat Party can inflict on the GOP if we refuse to go along with those bail outs.
Instead of shutting down the government, the GOP will be accused of shutting down American health care!
The Kaiser site lowballs a lot of the costs. They were way off on what CoveredCa says we would have to pay. According to CoveredCa insurance premiums, deductibles, and out of pocket costs would equal almost 1/3 of our income.
prices can quickly approach 20 percent of a person’s income
Those types of cases have been the future here for over 20 years.
‘Those types of cases have been the future here for over 20 years.”
And without having more info,,,we don’t know how those visits were funded,,,they may well have been covered.
This is what the libs want,,...for us to knock down each other based on partial facts. It’s very sad.
Anyone who has already paid an obamacare premium is simply stupid.
Ok let me explain. I live in the Central Valley of California. You know what that means? Tons of illegals and their American born children. Our county hospital, which by the way is one of the few left in the country, usually has a 9-13 hr wait. Do you really think that there are that many real emergencies in one night? And yes, they are covered, by MediCal and if they have no insurance the county pays for it and then gets some back from the state and then the feds.
Enough info for ya? Sheesh!
If Obama was to be impeached over this, then so should every democrat who voted for it. That’s not going to happen.
Guess I shoulda also said....how do I know? Because I was an eligibility worker for MediCal and roamed the halls of that hospital signing people up or calling the hospital employees in who explained to them how their bill would be paid.
Apparently he can’t spell his name. I’ve never seen where he wrote Barry Sotoero. Hell, I can’t even spell it.
Question: Does the deductible have to be met before ANYTHING is paid?
Yup. It’s 6k per person, and 12k for the family. Oh yeah and it’s 22k for “out of network care” . Which means don’t get sick when you travel. It’s crap. bank the premium, and apply for insurance WHEN you get sick. Can’t deny “ pre existing conditions”
Why is everyone calling it ObamaCare (I know it is his signature legislation law) But it needs to be called OdumboCare. I was in Walgreens in Iron Mountain, the guy in front me was grumbling about ObamaCare and i simply said change the name to what it really is Odumbocare! for the dumb people whom sucked on the teat of government to solve something that was not even broken - healthcare. Health insurance is not an entitlement.
I rececntly read that a lot of people do not even understnd what a deductible is. They are going to be very surprised when the bills start rolling in, on top of their premiums.
It is understandable with a thmb, finger nearly being secered off for an ER visit. UTI, ear infection and rash to be seen in the ER is rather a waste of taxpayer money. Being that it is a county hospital, I can well understand your concern. County hospitals treat so many people and guess what the majority never even pay. County hospitals have gone bankrupt because of non-payment.
My mother worked at a county hospital in Milwaukee Wis. that hospital is history, the building lot is now a parking lot for Froedert Memorial Lutheran Hospital.
The future of healthcare will be rationing.
I live in a small city in the UP of Michigan, the local hospital just built a new hospital 25 beds, spent millions on a computer system and now it is merger with a Wisconsin based medical facility that has been taking over other Upper Peninsula Michigan medical clinics/hospitals since 2006.
