Christmas Eve - going to neighbor’s house where I will cook my “famous” leg of lamb. We’ll have about 40 other neighbors and friends’ families come and go as well.

This Jew is spending Christmas Eve (my favorite day of the year) with my husband,, his children and grandchildren, his ex-wife and ex-mother-in-law in San Diego. I love them all! I am truly blessed. Christmas Day is visiting old friends to say hello.

My wife and I will be doing what we do everyday of the year. Nothing.

But we will be eating tenderloin and crab legs. We don’t do that every day of the year.

If I found myself alone for Christmas, I think I would try to spend it with the folks in the rest home in our small town. Those folks can always use some love and attention. I do hope you have a nice Christmas, however you spend it.

Why let them ruin your Christmas? Tell them all to stay home!

Christmas Eve at Mom and Dad’s at their ranch along with my siblings and their kids and their kids. We are fortunate enough to have everyone still with us, though my father has Parkinson’s and we never know if this might be our last together. Not a liberal among the crowd of around 40 of us. We will be having a huge Mexican dinner.

Christmas day at my mother-in-laws house in Dallas. One Democrat cousin of my husband’s. Should get interesting when I break out the Two If By Tea that I’m bringing to replace the Dublin Dr. Pepper I no longer buy for our family gatherings.

I am home alone. My wife flew to Arizona to visit the kids and grandkids for two weeks. We both can’t afford it (retired on fixed incomes) and, besides, someone has to hold down the fort here on our 25 acre cattle spread in Florida. I will take care of the animals and the garden. We had a baby calf deliver on Wednesday which I had to assist with.

I have two doctor’s appointments in the big city tomorrow, Christmas Eve and may try to see a movie in the afternoon while I am in town.

Christmas Day, I will continue work on building my wife a lean-to greenhouse here on the homestead. I am attaching it to the back of one of the old sheds.

Otherwise, like most days spent in retirement, one day is like any other and there is no weekday or weekends anymore. They all run together. You know what they say about retirement. You never get a day off.

Merry Christmas everyone.

I’m a pastor, so I work Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Tomorrow during the day I will write my sermon for Christmas Day. (I just finished my sermon for Christmas Eve a little while ago.) I also will make a hospital visit and maybe a couple of shut-in visits. In the evening I will do two Christmas Eve services. Then on Christmas Day I will do a service in the morning. After that, I have no plans at all.

It’s tradition. They’ve been coming over since before they turned loony. Also, my house is centrally located and it’s the only one big enough to accommodate us all.
