Obama administration relaxes rules of health-care law four days before deadline

The Obama administration Thursday night significantly relaxed the rules of the health-care law for millions of consumers whose individual insurance policies have been canceled, saying they could buy bare-bones health plans or entirely avoid the requirement that most Americans have health insurance.

The surprise announcement, four days before the Dec. 23 deadline for people to choose coverage that begins on Jan. 1, triggered an immediate backlash from the health insurance industry and raised new fairness questions about a law intended to promote affordable and comprehensive coverage.

Out of 40 houses on our street 5 are decorated for Christmas. The spirit is about dead. A simple, hard working, decent woman told me today, “We never have known what the future would bring but now we are pretty sure whatever it is will be bad.”

Obama has changed the times and the law.

Dan 7.25. And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the holy ones of the most High, and shall think to change the times and the law; and they shall be given into his hand for a time, times and half a time:

Pointless, to comment, protest or anything.

What difference does it make? I’ve been cancelled, reinstated, revised, cancelled again, new insurance issued since October and mis-billed and rebilled three times this month already.

Dan 7.25. And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the holy ones of the most High, and shall think to change the times and the law; and they shall be given into his hand for a time, times and half a time:

Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.

It is not cold in SE Texas so that is not the reason here. My wife went to Hobby Lobby today and said she was shocked at how well stocked they still were.

Yes, it is sad. The lady I reference has worked for us for a long time. All I could do was hug her and tell her she was not alone in her despair of the situation.

Another young woman who works for my sis is thrilled to have a part time job that she can make $500 or $600 a week on. That is for she and her son! The lady is a LPN, laid off because the hospital has braced for obamacare. My sis says that many times in the last year she came by or called to ask if there was any work because she didn’t have money for food. My sis hired her for a $100 here and there as much as she could. I’m sitting her writing this sick at my stomach and tears streaming down my cheeks. It just makes me so damn sad and mad and scared for us all.

These people aren’t looking for handouts. They could get them but just want help not dependency to give up all their dignity.

Yes, stress kills and kills the spirit and the impact is cumulative. I don’t see us as much better off than lab rats.

You seem like a good person from the sentiment you express. Bless you and yours. I pray every night since I was a child. Sometimes I fall asleep with my prayers. Tonight will be one when I hit my knees for prayers. I’m at one of those times where I’m having doubts God is hearing me or any of our pleas. I’m going to go give it a try again.

Just one more thing / thought to share.

I think we are worse off than prisoners. Even prisoners of war. Both know there is either and end to the sentence or an end to the war.

I see no end to this. It may end someday but we have no idea when.

Ever hear of the Stockdale Paradox? This was a brilliant man and truly a hero possessing an enduring and unbeatable spirit. I am going to pray for some of this kind of faith.

In a business book by James C. Collins called Good to Great, Collins writes about a conversation he had with Stockdale regarding his coping strategy during his period in the Vietnamese POW camp.[11]

I never lost faith in the end of the story, I never doubted not only that I would get out, but also that I would prevail in the end and turn the experience into the defining event of my life, which, in retrospect, I would not trade.”[12]

When Collins asked who didn’t make it out of Vietnam, Stockdale replied:

Oh, that’s easy, the optimists. Oh, they were the ones who said, ‘We’re going to be out by Christmas.’ And Christmas would come, and Christmas would go. Then they’d say, ‘We’re going to be out by Easter.’ And Easter would come, and Easter would go. And then Thanksgiving, and then it would be Christmas again. And they died of a broken heart.”[12]

Stockdale then added:

This is a very important lesson. You must never confuse faith that you will prevail in the end—which you can never afford to lose—with the discipline to confront the most brutal facts of your current reality, whatever they might be.”[12]

How can they do that, when bare-bones plans have all been cancelled since they're not in compliance with Obamacare? They don't exist anymore!

Right after Thanksgiving — prime Christmas decorating season — it was in the teens and then went downhill from there. My fingers just don’t work very well in those temps gloved or not. A little warmer now but seems too late to bother.

No, I am not a particularly good person but do pray throughout the day — and during the night when I can’t sleep. For the last couple of months I’ve added prayers specifically requesting relief for those adversely affected by Obamacare — whether it be an interruption in treatment or just heightened anxiety at the whole thing. I happen to know that the anxiolytic (anti-anxiety) prescriptions at a psych. clinic near here are running fast and furious lately.

We are fortunate — even though I haven’t been able to work since ‘99 — by getting numerous “breaks” in life I mainly attribute to the prayer. Even the O’care thing is not turning out badly for us (until the whole thing collapses). So God most certainly does listen and He grants those petitions that are in line with His will. Don’t ever stop praying! I know what you mean by the doubts and feeling forgotten times but we are told to expect those!

Hope things turn out OK for you and yours!

I was very distressed to read in the NY Times today, in an op-ed by Ishmael Reed, that last month the president, at an event in San Francisco, responded to a heckler who wanted him to be more aggressive on legislative issues, by saying, “A lot of people have been saying this lately on every problem. Just sign an executive order and we can do everything.”

Pause to take a breath now, and listen to Mr. Reed’s next sentence:

“The Constitution tells him to do otherwise.”

Mr. Reed then moves on to another subject.

AS IF OBAMA ALWAYS DOES WHAT THE CONSTITUTION TELLS HIM TO DO! He leaves the ignorant Times readers with the erroneous impression that they have a Constitution-obeying president!

You have to actually read this paper to believe the lengths that they will go to in order to deceive their readers.

I hope certain people who read this rag every day, and never take the slightest peek at the truth-stream media, get a clue sometime.

Nope, the employer mandate makes it a lot more likely bots will be doing the fast food jobs in future.

They will probably go in to academia instead, like all the other useless idiots.

Obama has just made a shrewd political move that cuts the legs off the GOPe victory plan in 2014.

The reason that Boehner and McConnell have egg on their faces right now is that their game plan was to be the champions of lower cost health care.

They intended to berate Obama over Obamacare’s requirement that everybody had to buy health insurance at jacked up prices.

The Republicans were going to push the notion of an interstate marketplace instead of in state marketplaces to lower the cost of the mandatory higher priced health plans.

By dropping the requirement to buy higher priced insurance for now, Obama has undercut the GOP and positioned himself as the champion of lower cost health insurance than the Republicans.

This is pure Clinton and no doubt Bill or Hill do have a big
stake in this considering their future plans. I wonder if Obama was given this idea by Bill himself.

Obama just shafted a lot of campaign contributors, at least for the moment.

Folks it seems are waiting for someone else to make the first move..they just sit about and WAIT. Docile people, making no noise, no demands, no marching in person to the offices of their local politicians and loudly DEMANDING they do something about the highjacking of this country from our Constitution, Liberty and Freedom to socialism/communism/marxism. Get out of your comfort zone..join up with others, hello Tea Party?, and make some noise and show some passion and anger and make your presence and anger felt...DO SOMETHING, don't sit around like docile sheep. es, Yes, we're in a depressive funk about the state of this country, BUT, we face facts, shake the blues, and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

And where are the congressional Tyrants who look after the sheep?

In bed with their Lobbyist fast asleep.

All three branches of our government are corrupt and paid off. They refuse to honor Constitution or their Oaths of office. They have no honor. None whatsoever. GODless leaders taking us on a GODless path as a nation.

prayers up for you, fellow saint.

He hears you. Pray in the Spirit, let the Spirit groan for what you need, and let the Intercessor Jesus plead your case, as Paul describes in Romans 8.

This is not the end; He will deliver us.

Apparently, the only path that might stop him is impeachment.

Regardless of the assumed fact that the Senate will not convict, the House still has the responsibility of impeaching him.

The House should impeach. Tell them to do their jobs: IMPEACH

This is one reason Sebelius has not been canned. A new secretary may change any and all of the “The secretary shall....” regs.

Indeed that will be the fastest, easiest way to put a stop to it. Use the inherent power of the secretary to starve it.

It’s the REALITY of implementing the bill.

Democrats would bother ‘fixing’ it if it were just Republican constituents complaining.

Speaker Boehner gave Democrats 2 yrs worth of fixing in the budget bill.
