Anyone with any brains will give them the ammunition out the end of the barrel first.

500 in a city of tens of millions?

What is wrong with these people?

Kudos. You’re just what NY will need to make the worm turn.

I don't know a whole lot about guns, but it seems all shotguns hold 5 and 1

Is this correct ?

Settle down. I did not mean to give offense. Since, you don’t live in NYC proper, there is some hope for you. :-)

I am originally from NY, Long Island to be exact. After joining the Marines, I decided to never live there again. I still have some family and friends there and visit them on occasion.

I live in Texas now and find it more agreeable to me. I am sure that you would probably like it better here too. As far as welcoming “yankees”, most Texans are great about that. Oh, you hear some jokes and some people on this forum like to spout off about things, but the people are more friendly down here, and in the South in general, than those in the Northeast. Besides, Texas was founded by people from other places to begin with. So, people really should learn history before complaining about that.

I respect your desire to stay in NY and expel the communists. I wish you luck with that. If you ever get tired of it, you may consider a move elsewhere. Texas is a great state where people can live free and do have pride. There are huge swaths of the country still not ruined by liberals. Just something to consider.

Oh, I put the US flag on my home page because I seek common cause with my fellow countrymen, including people like you.

Technically, a gun with a removable magazine can only hold 1 round at a time. The magazine holds the rest. I do have a couple of bolt actions that can hold 5 rounds internally and a couple of tube feed guns that can hold more...

Does this mean “assault rifles” should be OK, but bolt actions and cowboy guns must be turned in?

Getting ready for the EBT shutdown. NYC doesn’t want too many of their minority thugs to get taken out early in the game. The NYPD wants the thugs to kill off as many people as they can first.

How many murders are committed in New Yawk $#!ty every year with a long gun?.. 2..? 3..?

But with an avowed Communist taking over control I suppose I can understand why they want to get firearms out of the hands of the regular honest citizens. It's the same reason King George III wanted to, or Joseph Stalin wanted to.

NYC can expect the Iron Fist, especially after Kommissar de Blowsio takes charge.

In addition to the source listed on post 52, if you are near any Cabela's, Gander Mountain, or the like, check with them, as they occasionally have 91/30's for sale. Prices are likely to be in the range of $120-$150 for a run of the mill OK condition rifle.

Folks on this forum have mentioned bygone days when they would see barrels full of them in sporting goods stores for 50 bucks apiece. But even today, a Mosin-Nagant and a couple of spam cans of mil-surp ammo will not break the bank. Good luck.

I have never owned a Mosin, but my friend did. They shoot real nice, not as much recoil as you would think given the size of the ammo they use. They are very solid and heavy.
The Bayonet is quite large and pointy. The ammo supply is plentiful and cheap. In the preparedness community, Mosins are considered an ideal rifle for their ruggedness, easy of use and maintenance, and low cost of bulk ammo.

I watched a Hickok45 video of him shooting one and he did mention the low recoil, probably because it is a solid and heavy rifle. Low prices on line and I will have to buy that way. Hate not seeing and handling it before buying, though!

FYI -

Here’s the story of Finnish Sniper Simo Hayha and his Mosin-Nagant bolt action M91:

“NYC is a case study in what happens when registration of firearms is mandated by the government.”

Only 500 letters? I would venture to guess that many, many other gun owners DID NOT register their guns. Maybe those that did comply now understand why the others did not.

One thing I observed about my friend’s Mosin. His bolt was a bit “sticky”. I think these firearms have been packed away in crates with cosmoline goop for years. He had to do some cleaning and lubing to the get the bolt to function better. That said, they are very nice rifles that can take down any 2 or 4 legged creature in North America. The bayonet is pure evil and you can use the heavy wood stock to beat a polar bear into submission.
