I only ask because the new Obamacare requires us to allow the medical records to be shared with law enforcement...and here in MD law enforcement is already combing hunting license apps and then cross-checking the applicant’s land records and criminal records. Search warrants are being issued for anyone with a disqualifying crime on their record that applies for a hunting license. Flyovers have been performed on anyone with land that was issued a bear permit.

and now, if you answer “no” to those questions will the Feds check your state’s database of hunting license apps? NCIC records? credit card records for purchase of ammo?

According to Catholic doctrine, if the questioner has no right to a truthful answer, you don't have to answer truthfully. This falls in the same category as the question "Are you hiding any Jews in your house?" Or, a couple of centuries ago, "Are you hiding any escaped slaves in your house?"
They don't need to know in order to take care of your health. Tell them only what they have a right to know.

Because I am a USAF veteran, and multiple privately owned weapons were listed on my last two official PCS orders, the Feds already had me on a “watch list”.
I knew about that list before it was called a list, over 25 years ago.
It had everything to do with my former DOD security clearance levels, some issues of which are still applicable today, and nothing at all to do with contemporary politics or healthcare.It had less to do with my guns, and more to do with if I ever decided to use my training and knowledge to overthrow a government that had trained me to protect and defend the USA.
On behalf of most of my fellow citizens,who are mostly non-veterans, I rise to state it is absolutely none of the Feds business if any or all of them do, or do not own weapons.

I was also asked that question at a similar type of hospital. My response: "Do you know that according to the National Institute of health, medical malpractice kills something like 110,000 people a year, but less than 10,000 people die from gunshot wounds." She droppped the question.

(Unless they are inputting that information into a Federally required and controlled computer database that will eventually be used for weapons confiscation)
Why do they not also ask if I know how to distill snake venom? Or ask if I know exactly what amount of force applied to which pressure points will cause instant death? Or if I can competantly calculate a variety of munitions delivery systems?
If you are indeed a former USMC Veteran, are you interested in why the feds are forcing physicians under HHS regulations to ask and report your answers regarding personal weapon ownership to a central database?

I have been following this thread with interest. It seems NO one posting is FOR the intrusive inquiries by physicians into our personal possessions. I am AGAINST the inquiries about weapons by physicans. I will LIE if asked, and want the people who are promoting this OUT of power in this country!
What is more troublesome to me is the attitude among those of us who agree on such issues,but not on how we express ourselves. Really, we don’t need the DU or Obamanites trying to destroy the Tea Party and regulate free speech -many of us are doing their work for them.
