The state’s $69 million Obamacare website is “overbudget,” has missed deadlines and now is bringing in eleventh-hour engineering assistance from Oracle, in the face of looming cutoff dates that could force some to go without health insurance, the Herald has learned.
The fix comes after the Herald reported Saturday a mere 1 percent of applicants facing canceled health plans had managed to enroll in Obamacare plans through the state’s website, with just weeks before many plans expire Dec. 31.
Gov. Deval Patrick yesterday brushed off any concerns about the system.

Now it’s really going to be over-budget. Oracle is ‘spensive.
They might do better with the "Oracle of Delphi".
IMHO; Oracle should have been the “no bid contract” for an endeavor of this size, but frankly, I’m happy they Solindra’d us again with the Canadian outfit. Tends to clear up any doubts about their real motives.
Every massive floundering software project needs a couple of big ego consultants to inspire the trench workers....

Well, IBM would also have been a valid call - but that’s only if they actually wanted the end result to work. It’s pretty obvious that they either had a huge phobia of ‘big business’ firms (who would be the only ones to make something this big actually work reliably) or they didn’t care if it worked (for any one of a multitude of reasons.) Pretty sure it was the latter.
Oracle was responsible for Oregon Exchange setup...still not one sign up...and Oregon got $300 million from Feds to make it work!
My computer gnome who sells, installs, and maintains tries to stay away from their stuff if my memory is correct, we be talkin' Ferrari / Porsche type expense if you want to analogize...

I don’t know, I think it might make it more expensive, that is why I ask for FR Computer Geeks to chime in...
But that would just be silly.
If a major company like IBM or Oracle that had a hard-earned reputation to protect had been given Obamacare it would be working flawlessly right now.
No such thing as a "tech surge". More boots on the ground actually destroys software projects. Which is one big reason why the $643 million site was a failure to begin with.
How about asking Romney to help fix this mess? Doesn’t Mitt pride himself ( and his BAIN CAPITAL ) to be a turnaround artist? /s
