'Fed up' Milwaukee pastors call for gun buyback program
Milwaukee J-S ^ | 14 oct 2013

A group of Milwaukee pastors and their supporters gathered Monday morning at a local coffee shop to implore city officials to sponsor a gun buyback program, which they say could remove weapons from the city's streets and reduce violence in their neighborhoods.

"We are here today because we are fed up," said the Rev. John McVicker Sr., pastor at Christ the King Baptist Church. "There have been far too many senseless shootings in our city, many resulting in homicide."

The pastors have asked the city to allot $50,000 in its 2014 budget to initiate a one-time, anonymous gun buyback, where residents could safely turn over unwanted weapons. People would receive $100 gift cards for giving up handguns and rifles and $200 gift cards for giving up assault weapons. The buyback could be held at churches in ZIP codes with the most violence.

The group is determined to do something about the violence, said the Rev. Mose Fuller, pastor of St. Timothy Community Baptist Church.

"If they say no, we're going to do it anyhow," Fuller said, noting that his church was part of a community-led gun buyback program in 2005 that collected hundreds of guns. "People are tired of the violence."

My greatest fear is that when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I said I paid for them.

Easy solution. Leave them all to me! :)

Do these phonies know “buy backs” have been proved to be ineffective? Do they even care? They will say anything but the truth: Lock up criminals (of whatever color) who illegally use guns.

likely loyal Democrats. Again, I respect their right to be anti-gun. That’s not the issue for me. The issue for me is that they want to rob my pocketbook for their pet causes

Unfortunately "loyal Democrat" is synonymous with "want to rob my pocketbook for their pet causes." which is why I said that their being democrats WAS relevant.

Ineffective is a fact. First off anti-gunners don't dislike guns as such. They hate guns in the hands of anyone other than the government's JBTs. To reach this end, facts don't matter to anti-gunners. Anti-gunners don't base their attitudes on rational thought and facts, but on emotion.

They're not open to logic. The can't be reasoned with. They can't be bargained with. The feel no pity, remorse, or fear. They just won't stop until everyone but their beloved police are disarmed and helpless OR we're killed by their beloved police "resisting arrest" OR they and a sufficient number of theri goons are killed.

They want the city to fund their idea. Why can’t they fund their own buy-back?

Anybody thought about getting them off welfare, raising their kids, giving their kids lasting Christian values, making marriage a staple of their communities, plus policing and cleaning up their neighborhoods?

Come on, gang-bangers need to dump the guns they stole from their honest neighbors and they want CASH for those guns. Pawn shops ask for ID - but these stupid 'we love the criminal - buybacks' don't ask for ID...

That makes a difference. That's why criminals especially black criminals love buybacks.

Then they can buy a couple of nice ones and a few brewskies to go with 'em. Maybe even a few bucks for the them women they have kids with - who might donate a five to the church. What goes around comes around...

Yeah, well I’m calling for a program to teach African-American holy men to preach to their young people sermons like (for the young women): “How To Hold An Aspirin Between Your Knees” and (for the young men): “Stop Beatin’ On White Folks—You’ll Live Longer”.

Hmmmm. How can they act to prevent violence? I admit, I'm stumped. Clearly they believe blaming the guns is the right choice.

Barnum was a pessimist, and underestimated his market, even taking into consideration the increase in population.

Or, public schooling is doing a better job of creating mindless idiots than in Barnum’s time.

Maybe a bit of both.

If the pastors manage to make this happen, it will be an excellent opportunity to obtain some nice guns on the cheap, and maybe make some money on old junkers that you have collected for the purpose.

One event in Racine shelled out $350 for BB guns that cost $120 on sale at Walmart:

and $200 gift cards for giving up assault weapons.

What a bargain! I could trade a nice HK-93 (I KNOW it is NOT an "assault weapon", but it DOES fit what they mean by the term) for a $200 gift card, along with a Glock-23 for another $100; sell those cards at a street discount, and have enough to go to Cabela's and by a spiffy Mosin–Nagant! What a deal! What a country! What BS!

BTW, somebody needs to tell them that they can not "buy back" what they never sold in the first place!

I suppose these “pastors” will be want a Beer Buyback Program next.

Family Dollar gift cards: 50¢ for a 40; 25¢ for a 16 oz; 10¢ for a 12 oz; 2¢ for a "stubby"? About in keeping with their magnanimity with gun "prices".
