Dear Heavenly Father,
You said that when two or more are gathered in Your name, there You are also. We come together as friends and family of Jim to ask that You place Your hand of protection upon Jim during his surgery today. Lord, bless the hands, minds, and souls of the surgical team. Let their hands be Your hands. Let their decisions be Your decisions. We lift him up to You and ask that You carry him through surgery and return him to us happy, healthy, and whole.
We also ask that Your Holy Spirit provide an overwhelming sense of peace for Jim, Sheila, Chris, and John. Comfort them as they wait for good news from the surgical team. Bless and keep each of them today.
Your Holy Word says that in Christ all things are possible. We ask these things in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ and thank you for answered prayers.

Your a trip.I wrote early about a priest going live on the air before they were going to cut off his toe.He also went live on the air in ICU and put his nurse on.Gotta love Our Jim:).(((((Hugs)))))

Prayers have been on my mind off and on all day. I didn’t know the surgery had been delayed, but glad they caught a problem before it became a danger. Prayers continue through until he is in the clear. Sending love and hugs to Jim through you when you go see him. Love to you too Amy.
I’m planning on seeing him on Wednesday. I will wait until the day following his surgery. I’m assuming the surgery will be tomorrow.

A little bit of levity for you after a very stressful day ...
Amy, you haven’t yet met my son, but Jim & onyx have. I call him Little Man ... because I’m raising a man not a boy. Heh!
Little Man had his very first football game today at 4:30 CDT. He was so worried about you, Jim. He looked up at me for a thumbs up/down update frequently. (Not kidding.)
So there I was ... in the stands praying for your heart rate one minute, a touchdown the next, protection from head injury the next, back to your rapid heart rate, rinse & repeat. The good Lord was probably receiving those prayer requests while thinking “Heart rate & football? Is she serious? Oh, wait ... she’s in Texas.”
I am off to bed and on my knees about your heart rate, dehydration, magnesium levels, and surgery. No football!

I went into see Jim this afternoon around 4:30. I didn’t see the post about the surgery being postponed so it took a while to find him. Eventually I discovered that he was in ER. He was in good spirits like he always is, but was very sleepy due to the morphine for the pain. He still didn’t have a room when I left at 5 P.M. Chris came in and said that Sheila would be in later in the evening to visit him.
My understanding about the heart rate is that it has to be at a reasonable level so that if it goes up during a surgery they will have that leeway. But if it is up already and they do surgery and the heart is already working hard and it goes even higher things could go bad fast.
Also the magnesium level needs to be at the right level. Any imbalance in the chemical makeup of the body can cause problems with medication, anesthetic (not a good thing), or cause undue stress in the vital organs.
Jim also told me that he was dehydrated, which can be another risk during surgery. The body is around 97 % water, so you don’t want to stress out the cells, keep the blood flowing smoothly and have the vital organ stay happy.
I noticed on this thread and the other one that many have said, let’s just get it done. Well it is a blessing that they are postponing this to get Jim’s body to the best level it can to handle the stress of surgery.
I promised him that I will come by tomorrow to see him.
We won’t!
God is with him.
