Ted Cruz has sparked a Republican civil war. He has done the bidding of the GOP fringe, in a self-aggrandizing crusade. And while he has enhanced his own position in the conservative fantasyland he seeks to rule, the practical effect of his quixotic campaign to defund Obamacare has been to elevate the president and jeopardize the 2014 elections for his own party.

Stuff it Stephen. Expect your RINO buddies to be looking for new employment over the next 3 election cycles.
Was never that fond of Steven Hayes anyway but now....he can go f&*k himself.
We don’t want Deathcare and we voted in a Republican House to stop it. What’s so hard to understand?
Did you read past the 1st Paragraph?
Did anyone read past the first paragraph? He said that he supported Cruz, Lee, and the others. The first paragraph is the conventional wisdom of Washington, not the author’s opinion.
My blood was beyond boiling when I read the 1st sentence and then . . . I read on.
My blood is still way over 212° after today’s vote and it taken every bit of restraint to be civil when talking with my elected officials (Isakson & Chambliss) office and expressing my thoughts on their traitorous votes in favor of Zero Care.
Did you hear him pan Sen Cruz on the Fox Panel?
You didn’t read far enough. He is lauding Cruz. He was just giving the GOPe view first.
Read a little further. He is on Cruz’s side.
Don’t believe he was quite so supportive leading up to the vote.
No, it is not the "fringe."
It is what is left of the actual republican party.
The rest of the GOP is nothing more than the butt kissing collaborator brigade that is hiding behind a phony "R."
Let the PRIMARIES begin.
Cruz rocks, and we need thousands more just like him.
He actually makes a good point (I think this is what he’s saying, or at least leading people into) ... there’s a heightened awarenes of Obamacare. RINOs aside, people now associate the effort to stop it with Republicans. Even if in being told that those Republicans are extremists.
The Dems acknowlege that it has flaws. Major ones. Ones that will be highlighted more and more as it’s rolled out. Ones that won’t be fixed because there won’t be the votes to do so. So when people start getting screwed by it, they’ll know that it was the work of the Dems that the GOP valiantly opposed.
Could be a game changer not only for repealing Obsmacare but also awakening the public to the slow but accelerating slide into socialism being executed by the Democrats.
These people tell themselves what they want to be true.
LOL. Good question. You beat me to it. Apparently Freepers love to post a lot more than they like to read.
I'm glad Hayes is on our side on this one. He's basically a good guy. One of the few.
He says that now, but based on reports here (I currently don’t get Fox) he wasn’t quite so supportive in the run up to the vote.
It appears not.
I hope Freepers will go back up and read his second and third paragraphs.
Can you give us the gist of it? Sounds like the guy's conflicted.
They pretend to be the left tackle to defend liberty and purposely get out of the way of the block so the offense is stymied. They don't make the sack themselves, they just fail to stop it. If it were football, we would all think they were on the take and had some skin on the game at Vegas. Maybe the house will surprise me and stand resolute, there is a first time for everything they say.
LOL. With all the wailing and gnashing of teeth the past few days you’d think a bunch of demons had Holy Water sprayed on them or something.
William F. Buckley, Jr. ran as a candidate I the CONSERVATIVE PARTY. If he were alive today, he would fire your ass.
The “consensus in Washington” is usually the polar opposite of the reality outside the beltway.
1. Cruz has brought more attention to obamacare, and more people are becoming informed about what it.
2. Polarization is good. We get to see who is on what side of the war. A bunch of elected officials had to pick a side with everyone watching. We know who is the enemy and who is an ally.
Don’t be a tool. Read the entire article.
Did you read past the first paragraph?
So in large measure I stand by my original post.
Even Stephen Hayes must grudgingly acknowledge this. And what a success ... as well as a crucial one! Therefore, Stephen, Senator Cruz does deserve three cheers! This is leadership. And left to his own devices, McConnell would have NEVER achieved this crucial success! Here's how Senator Cruz described this current GOP "leadership" in the U.S. Senate on Rush ......
I will tell you the single biggest surprise in arriving to the Senate is the defeatist attitude here. I mean, we don't even talk about how to win a fight. There's no discussion. We talk about, "Hey, let's get a show vote so we can go tell our constituents we're doing something." But I promise you, Rush, if you had to sit through one Senate lunch, you'd be in therapy for a month ... but they've been here a long time, and they're beaten down, and they don't believe we can win. They don't believe it can happen, and the answer they say on every issue is, "No, we can't do it. We can't do it."
Stephen Hayes and the GOPe apologists never. Senator Ted Cruz forever.
Just what the #&$% is "fringe" about NOT wanting to be a socialist tax-slave?!?
I didn’t read far enough, either. Testament to how sensitive this issue is. I can’t imagine someone speaking out against Cruz in public in many areas and being left capable of walking away.
Hayes is another worthless beltway faux conservative living, lying and pretending the be know it all for us, the peons outside of the beltway.
It was stretching it for me to get past the title...it's Friday after all!

Hey Stephen Hayes...kiss my butt and then go sh*t in your hat!
Ted Cruz has re-energized the conservative movement.
At least one Senator refuses to do the bidding of the Democrats, this cannot be allowed.
I actually almost did the same thing—and TGIF!
We aren’t the fringe. We are America.
Hey, Steve. E. S. A. D.
Did you read the entire article?
Do you know Hayes’ previous position on Cruz’s actions?
Thank you for another reminder why I dumped this rag and why I am so glad I don’t have to listen to this joker any longer! I dumped Fox News last November for The Blaze and am thankful daily.
You didn’t read past the 1st paragraph?
You really should learn to let it all out, don't hold back. You'll get an ulcer. Come on, tell us what you really think! ;-)
