Ted Cruz Reveals that the Republican Establishment Despise Their Own Base
AmericanThinker.com ^ | 9-26-2013 | Karin McQuillan

The Revolutionary War was a rebellion against Britain, but it first required a battle between Tories and Patriots. Ted Cruz is fighting for the honor of leading the conservative movement. The main goal is to give the American people a voice, defeat the Democrat Party, and take over Congress and the White House, so we can shrink our federal government back to constitutional limits.

The battleground of the moment is ObamaCare. But the first adversary that must be defeated is the Republican establishment. Is it any wonder that the Republican leadership is working to make sure the defunding effort fails?

Ted Cruz is pinning his ambitions to the big reality the Tea Party represents: conservatives really are fed up with both parties in Washington, D.C. The Republican base allowed Obama to be re-elected when an estimated five million of us stayed home in the 2012 election. It may not have been wise, but it happened for a very good reason: they didn't see the Republican Party representing them.

The D.C. establishment, and this includes both parties, is doing very well, thank you. The suburbs around Washington are the wealthiest in the nation. They and their families were untouched by the Obama economic meltdown. A huge government, spending a quarter of our nation's wealth, with almost half the populace dependent on their largesse, is good for them. It is not good for us.

The Republican leadership want to defeat ObamaCare, but mostly they want to use it as a campaign talking point to return to power. They are not willing to fight with all their hearts and minds to protect the American people from this disaster. That might be risky. That might not play well in this week's polls.

There are two Republican Parties. One is the entrench set who simply fall to the direction that their lobbyists request, pretend to be wannabe conservatives, and do chatty-talks with Sunday morning talk-show hosts. They generally believe that you don’t arrive in DC, and jump-frog over them....that have been there ten to twenty years.

So the second Republican Party is this group that asks stupid questions, expects accountability, has made budget control and taxation the number one task of their political figures, and can out-wit any of the entrenched guys in a debate.

The sad truth is that the entrenched guys have been around, and don’t care to have their authority second-guessed. The idea that half their voting base has suggested for them to move on....hasn’t clicked for them yet. The entrenched crowd is relying on 1980s style election strategy to stay around.

I wholly believe this, especially for my two Georgia Senators, Chambliss and Isakson.

Both of these two RINO traitors tried to spout off early on in 2007 how we had to do something about illegal immigration reform and they were gangbusters to sign onto the Bush/McCain Amnesty Program. They got bitch slapped back into reality by us real quick like. But this episode confirmed something for me. These guys don’t really give a crap about me, or Georgians, really. They care about their power and status and hanging with the ‘cool’ guys up in DC.
They changed their tunes that one time, but I’ve never thought they changed their hearts.

Both of these SOBs will vote for cloture in the upcoming Obamacare/CR bill which will allow that bill to proceed with just a plurality vote, after Harry Reid conveniently allows just ONE amendment - to strip out Obamacare defunding.

They’ll then send out their emails and letters “We tried - we voted for the bill...blah blah blah...” “We’re really conservatives...” Just like they’ve done with nearly every other parliamentary trick votes in the past.

I sent both an email that we here are wise to their tricks and that anything other than a NO vote on cloture is treason against us.

I know Chambliss is leaving, but I’ll sure as hell not vote for anyone he or the Georgia GOP endorses for his replacement, likewise for Isakson...he’s outta there. I’ll get him in the primary, or in the General Election if I have to. At least an outright declared enemy is better than one in the trenches with you.

As for possible replacements, I think I’m gonna go like someone in the Georgia forum said...stay away from any old white good ole boy...I’ll be looking for someone younger - a Turk with a burn in his/her belly to go up there and make some damned trouble in that Senate along with Cruz. So as it is now, I’m not endeared of any of the potential candidates thus far, especially the current crop of House minors who want to go up to the Senate Majors....

Yesterday, on Hannity's radio program, Rand Paul suggested that we should not try to unseat republicans in congress, but focus on democrats.

My comment is if the republican is doing the same thing as the democrat, but with a kinder, gentler manner, would it not be hypocritical to criticize the democrat while ignoring the republican.

This is a watershed moment.

My Tea Party representative won in 2010 largely because his long serving rat opponent had given in to Pelosi's demand to vote for Obamacare. My rep has not gone wobbly, and I am sure he will continue to vote to defund Obamacare.

Despite this, I told him that I will probably sit out the 2014 federal side of the election if the GOP caves.

Wow. The idea that the gop despises it’s base is finally getting some traction.

“Yesterday, on Hannity’s radio program, Rand Paul suggested that we should not try to unseat republicans in congress, but focus on democrats.”

Just think where we would be today if the Republicans in the US Senate were all like Ted Cruz. Reid would be crapping his pants! The fact of the matter we need to focus on electing conservative “leaders,” like Cruz which necessarily means we need to “primary” most of the sitting GOP Senators along with the RATS. And we need to be willing to admit that this strategy will sometimes result in a RAT taking over the seat of a RINO, but that can be held to a minimum by running effective, well-vetted candidates.

Your attitude is part of why we are where we are today. And I thought that the only “white flag” factory operating to day was in France. My mistake!

A good point....but in the long haul I think its better to clean out the GOPe. We always win when we stay true to conservative issues.

Potomac fever is a dangerous disease and the ballot bix is the only cure!

If the Revolution was happening now who would be with Wahington and the Patriots? Ted Cruz would be there, so would Rand Paul and Mike Lee and others—McCain would be wearing Tory Green wanting to comprmise with King George. He would be calling Washintom a Wacko Bird Revolutionary— and so would the New York times. Such as they didn’t win American Freedom.

Ditto. I am so pissed at Isakson that I would consider actually voting for the Democrat in the general if he wins the GOP nomination again.

And Chambliss will show his true colors in this vote as well. Since he is stepping down, he has zero to gain politically by voting for cloture. So if he does vote that way, it will show that his allegiance resides with his fellow Senate Club Members and not with the state of Georgia which he is paid to represent.

Good summary

Problem is too many claiming to be conservative think that the Sunday news shows and Fox News are conservative....real conservatives know better

As Cruz pointed out yesterday, Leftist Democrats who are open about their politics are more deserving of respect than sniveling and deceitful pols who hide their true perspective.

Our conservative candidates have to be strong and savvy enough to stand up to the liberal partisan media, the dems, and the republican establishment. Sadly, a good number of our candidates have not been up to the task. Hence, we lost some winnable elections.
