I noticed a lot of news articles are using facebook for comments now, most people use their real name for that. I have no intention of ever getting one.

Your parents probably already gave you one. A real name is handy for such things as passports, drivers licenses, marriage certificates, retirement paperwork.

If they post to me I politely request that they not send posts since I will not be responding to any of their comments.

I have had one troll claim that my name, the names of my husband and children, and our addresses are known and subtley suggested that it will be shared with other trolls. Another troll posted information about one of my children that I **know** that I have never posted anywhere on the Internet.

I've gotten pretty good at finding things out on the Internet. While YOU may not have posted a particular piece of information, be aware that somebody may be able to find people who are connected to you, and see what information about you THEY have revealed.

Rule 1 for privacy-seekers: stay OFF FaceBook and other social media that may reveal connections between you and others.

I only have a fake facebook account that I use for posting comments on news articles. I have no friends and there is nothing on it linking it to the real ME other than my email address.

When I go to that account, Facebook lists some people I know and asks me if I want to "Friend" them but of course I don't. Now, how Facebook has connected them to me I have no idea......

Your email address probably identified you in multiple ways.
