We knew who the leader if Russia was when he chose our president. We could have found someone matching him in patriotism, strength and resolve. We elected to withdraw our leadership of the free world. Putin now controls the moral high ground in his defense of Christian values.

In respect to a recent meme, you might even call him the Chuck Norris of international politics

Respect to those who praise Putin on this forum. However, we are, IMO, averted from the apparent. Putin seems to serve us by belittling the big O. But he does not serve us intentionally. We are fooled to believe so.

What are Putin's (and Russia's) interest in Syria? Why would the leader of such a powerful country not bow out of this complete and utter mess?

Frankly, I challenge all here...now!

Putin does not use focus groups or polls.

I would say Netanyahu is the leader of the free world. And I don’t really consider the United States part of the “free” world anymore.

In that case, stop using the phrase “the Free World” because there isn’t one anymore.

>>>President community agitator vs former head of KGB<<<

Where did you read this? He was a low-ranking operative in Dresden, Germany. It was like a CIA job in a small city in a friendly nation. Doesn’t make one a super spy. Not to mention Putin has resigned in 1991, the day older KGB hardliners started a failed coup against Gorby’s reforms.

Putin is locking up or running off any and all who don’t agree with him. Did you know it is against the law to speak out against politicians in Russia? That is not moving towards freedom. What Obama wants to do in America, Putin has already done in Russia.

Putin has NO intention of serving the US intentionally. His aim is clear -- he wants Russia as a great power (think 1815) and him as Tsar

What is Russia's interest in Syria? Syria is a secular state where Christians, the most ancient Christians in the world can live peacefully. If the US invades or does anything to make Assad lose, then that Christian community will be wiped out -- and that Christian community includes Assyrian Church, Chaldean Catholic, Syrian Orthodox, Greek Orthodox, Maronite Catholic, Syrian Melkite Orthodox, Syrian Melkite Catholic, Latin Catholic, Protestant, etc. etc. -- Russia see's itself as the protector of Christians in the Middle East -- that was its role in the 1700s and 1800s and it wants that again.

What does Putin want? To keep the Russian people happy and also that Putin retains a strong SECULAR ally in the Middle East to counter-act against the Saudis and the Qataris -- those "esteemed" sheiks sponsor Wahabbi jihadis across the world and they are Obama's pals

Why would the leader of such a powerful country not bow out of this complete and utter mess? -- because he wants that mess to clear up with Christians protected. That's more for satisfying his internal audience than his own conscience I suppose, but that's good enough for me

Not Chuck Norris rather Kyuzo Mifune. Subtle, technically excellent and a real joy to watch in action. Check him out.

Some people have trouble understanding context. Putin is a president of a different country, with a different culture and politics, D’UH! and the US conservatives who approve of him, approve of him in the context of his country, not in the context of the US, double D’UH! No thinking person expects Putin to represent the interests of the United States. And yet, he seems to be in this case representing the interests of global peace, while clowns Lurch and Odunga are clearly the war mongerers.
