Washington Post Hits Ted Cruz With 12 'Birther' Stories In Two Days
Breitbart ^ | 8/21/13 | John Nolte

Posted on 08/21/2013 8:40:51 AM PDT by Lakeshark

Over the course of just two days, the Washington Post pounded its readers with 12 "birther" stories aimed at Texas Senator Ted Cruz. Headlines included, "Can Ted Cruz Run for President?", "Canadian Born Ted Cruz Releases Birth Certificate Amid Queries if He's Eligible for Presidential Run," "Ted Cruz: I am Not a Canadian," and "No, Ted Cruz "Birthers" are Not the Same as Obama Birthers":
**snip
Though there is no legal question as to Cruz's eligibility to run for president (Cruz was born an American citizen), the Post has spent the last 48 hours bedeviling the Hispanic senator with articles obviously meant to put him on defense and plant a seed of doubt in voters' minds.

The timing of the Post's assault is also curious. By accident or design, it dovetails perfectly with a widely criticized Daily Beast hit-piece on Cruz that also focuses on and questions Cruz's past and background.

Since being elected to the United States Senate in 2012, Cruz has emerged as one of the most vocal critics of President Obama and his signature healthcare plan, ObamaCare. The Washington Post has endorsed Obama for president, and frequently used its news and editorial pages to defend ObamaCare.

In the past, the Post has also launched crusades to destroy the careers of many Republicans, including US Senate candidate George Allen, presidential candidate Mitt Romney, presidential candidate Rick Perry, and current gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli -- among others. The Post's modus operandi is similar to what Cruz is currently facing: The Post floods the zone with stories critical of the Republican in an effort to undermine their candidacy through character assassination.

When you violate the rule of law as expressed most clearly in the Constitution, it is you who are collaborating in the establishment and the promotion of totalitarian government by Obama or a rogue Republican Party. When you promote a candidate who violated the Constitution in ways comparable to the Democrats, you are taking sides with the same kind of evil. in the period of 1934 to 1941, the Soviet Union and NAZI Germany were allies as they invaded other nations and committed atrocities. Taking sides with either of them was an evil and not a strategy.

:: To say he will destroy conservatives if he runs is silly beyond my capacity to laugh ::

I understand your statement but, truthfully, what is the status of “conservative” public credibility today? Keep in mind that said “cred” is entirely at the mercy of the media. The welfare class (47% of the votes received) get that info from the media/crisis-pimps.

These are exactly the same type of preemptive strikes that the libs (and the GOP-E) made against Sarah Palin in 2009.

By law, in order to confer cictizenship, a parent had to have 14 years of US residency, 5 after the age of 14. Dunham was 18 and did not meet this requirement. For Cruz, we would just need residency documents for his mom...

One advantage in their trying to take Cruz out early is that if he weathers this he will have inoculated himself by the time the election rolls around.

An astute observation, I hope you're right, I think they may fail even with the FR circular firing squad.

What do you think really bothers them about him? I think it’s that he’s a religious conservative.

He's all that along with a great capacity to present the conservative message, to fight for it, and persuade others to see his beliefs as a strong, positive influence.

I am a Birther.

IMO Ted Cruz is not a NBC .

BUT if Obama can be President, so could Putin.

Obama is not a NBC either, so he has negated that requirement.

The Washington Post cannot have it both ways.
If they endorse Obama they must ignore questions of Cruz’s eligibility.

At this point in time Ted Cruz is my candidate.

That is a lie and a fraud. Sen. Ted Cruz was born in Canada with immdiate Canadian citizenship, his father’s Cuban citizenship by jus sanguinnis under the Cuban constitution, and the right to request statutory U.S. citizenship from the U.S. State Department. These are all facts of birth which negate any possibility of being a natural born citizen. A natural born citizen is born with U.S. citizenship and no foreign citizenship at birth or at any point in time after birth.

Hold it right there, it's not clear at all this is a violation of the Constitution, or that he's ineligible, if you read the evidence and debate it, the evidence falls in the favor of Cruz, not against him.

As I said, if you want to help the totalitarian left in their attempts to take out a great conservative, go right ahead, just don't ask the rest of us to join you.

I wish Ted had been born on US soil.

Wouldn't have made a lick of good - the same people would still call him ineligible due to his father not being a citizen.

That whole plural thing which is born of US citizen parentSSSSSSSS, not just one parent, is the only reason why POTUS is ineligible. You can be born in the Lincoln bedroom of the W.H. and if only one of your parents is a US citizen, sorry, you are not qualified.

True that, and another thing: what IS clear is that Cruz does not offend the original INTENT of this under any circumstances. The faux purists never ever address that. They can't......

His mother’s U.S. citizenship may have been sufficient to qualify him to become a U.S. citizen using the statutory law of the immigration and naturalization act/s,
______________________________________

If Ted Cruz had been born in the US why would immigration and naturalization be involved ???

His mother was over 19, born in Delaware, of US citzen parents, an NBC herself

He would have been a US citizen just by being born here..

What5 he needs to be is an NBC..

Hes not ..

although he was born an American, plus Cuban from his father and canadian from his birth there, he is not NBC..

NBC for overseas births is reserved for the children of US military or diplomats, not private citizens..

Ted’s parents were not in the service sent to canada by our government..

They chose to move to Canada to work in the oil business..temp or not I dont know..

If Ted’s Cuban citizen father had a green card he would have had to return to the US once a year before the year was up..

around 1970 registered aliens couldnt stay away from the US for more than 365 days at a time...

I wonder if he did so..

or if he even had a green card..

I*m still wondering also why Ted’s father waited all those years to become an American citizen..

Nothing was stopping him to do so earlier...

NBC’s of this country don’t seem to be worth a poop.

The entire idea behind the "natural born" notation was not to have someone ideologically set against the US Constitution and American ideals as president. That's the ideal they were looking at.

With that as the standard, no democrat would be eligible, and a lot of the GOP........Just look at Biden and Graham, they're both supposedly eligible, but shouldn't be.
