At one time in my life I had several Blackafricamericanperzonsofcolor “friends”. Then one day it dawned on me that those people were the only people I knew where I had to be very careful of ever word, every phrase or even inflictions. So I quit calling or going around them. Now days, if they show up at a gathering or get together, I just leave.
I do have several Latino and Native American friends since they are normal folks.
Thank you.
Blacks are just so offended all the time, and I know it is not all of them, the ones I know that think like me get grief from their own community, they get called Uncle Toms, they get called Geeks but words don’t hurt them.
MLK Jr was about that. let a man be judged by his character.
I grew up with blacks,italians,irish,lebonese,syrians,greeks,orthodox russian,ukraine,estonia,scotts,welsh
Was called a Honky or Hunkie all my life, even though I consider myself a Dumb Mick.
We called the Italians Dagos, they laughed, we were all brothers.
There is only one group in that place and in the US that is perpetually pissed.
The Underground railway was in my town.
You can find the hideaways today.
And no matter how careful you are, even totally innocent and harmless slips bring on "that look."
I have a black neighbor. We have almost nothing in common. He's a racist who once told me to my face that white people are devils. He's clever but not really smart. He has an MA degree but he's uneducated except in how to use the system. He's condescending and uses his very large physical size in a bullying way. Why the hell would I want to be friends with him? He doesn't want to be friends with me. We simply wave and otherwise ignore each other.
Almost all my friends are Native American some of them are American Indian and a couple of them are black.
I am old enough to remember when Native Americans didn’t consider Indian to be a racial slur.
I also have some black relatives and we all get along fine.
