Chicago Tribune calls for a delay in implementating #obamacare.

The Chicago Tribune has finally reverted away from home-town boosterism of the President and is now telling him to, essentially, admit that his signature ‘achievement’ is toast:

"[President Barack Obama] crusaded for [obamacare] and has embraced its nickname. But he did not write the law. Congress did. Major changes are necessary — he has stipulated by his actions that this law as constituted cannot work — and Congress should legislate them for his review."

"Bottom line: Let’s delay and rewrite this ill-conceived law. Congress need not start from scratch. Lawmakers can build on what all of us have learned from three years of painful trial and error. Three years of attempting, but failing, to make this clumsy monstrosity work for the American people."

By all means, let us have a, ah, temporary delay in implementation – which is Beltway-speak (sorry about that) for ‘let us kill this monstrosity, throw it into an unmarked grave in federally-protected wetlands, pour lye into the hole, cover it up, go home, and never speak of this ever again.’

I still don’t see a GOP counter-proposal.

Just saying.

The bill plus enabling regulations may almost fit into one of these crates.

Damned dirty Republicans! Standing in the way of 30 million people getting health care!

Oh. Wait a minute. The Chicago Tribune did you say?

Re-calibrating outrage.

That’s the point, ObamaCare is SUPPOSED to fail. It’s failure will be the trigger for single payer.

Counter proposal?

How about just a re-set to the way things were before Obama and his minions screwed up the world’s best healthcare.

Take a portion of the funding scheduled for Obamacare, Buy a can of WD40. Spray the lock and hinges on Alxatrazz front gate.

Insert all people in DC that TOUCHED anything to do with this fiasco.

Weld gate shut.

Forget the place exists.

Done.

A “counter proposal” is to return to a free market solution.

America needs to have healthcare for all Americans.

All Americans.

Our economy is shedding jobs. People who had healthcare are losing that coverage, and we continue to shed jobs.

We need to bring BACK American jobs, and we need to offer something national regarding healthcare.

What we have now, is simply the most expensive, most wasteful system in the history of civilization.

Bar none.

We have plenty of affordable healthcare, but then there are (a lot) of Americans who have nothing.

Nothing.

That is not acceptable.

We need the GOP to get off the sideline and propose something. Something which honestly helps Americans, and helps all Americans who are currently on the sidelines.

NOW.

RE :”I still don’t see a GOP counter-proposal.”

As bad as Obama-care gets as long as more people are covered under it than were without it the Dems will win the public opinion battle, esp if the GOP position is ‘things were great before O-care’ . Wait till the medicaid expansion.

Now if they (GOP) could effectively trot out victims of Obama care on camera and get them at town hall meetings and in front of congress telling horror stories then they would be fighting back.

To your point : I can see where a GOP POTUS nominee is going to have real problems against Hillary if he has to say that things were great in 2008 to get through his 2016 primary.

It’s failure will be the trigger for single payer.

I know that's the conventional wisdom, but wouldn't a move to single-payer require a law as grand as "Obamacare" in order to implement? I thoroughly believe Obamacare will fail, but just because it does, doesn't mean the government will automatically default to rule by fiat. And while it's wishful thinking, I would hope that the GOP would jump in at some point and say, "it's time to return to the old system, with a few tweaks..."

RE :”We need the GOP to get off the sideline and propose something. Something which honestly helps Americans, and helps all Americans who are currently on the sidelines.”

Don't hold your breath for that
but I been saying for a couple years now that instead of these silly symbolic house fake repeals the GOP should have been promoting a bill that lets individual states completely opt out of Obama-care including the taxes and mandates.(and make it deficit neutral, a toxic idea for many here if it means higher taxes even on blue states)

So the Blue states stay in and the Red states jump out, and the purple states???

Then the red states could do nothing, or they could try their own reform and we can see how the blue states do.

propose something

I'll propose something. Let's go back to what we had before the ObamaCare crap hit the streets. There was no one uncovered. If someone was sick, they showed up at the hospital and they were treated.

More importantly, we have the best health care in the world: whether treatment, research, facilities, specialties, etc., we have the best in the world.

My grandson is being treated right now for a type of cancer. They are harvesting stem cells from his own body and these will be grown, reintroduced to his body, and will immeasurably aid in his treatment. Afterwards, they do some variety of immune cell therapy created by the best minds in the world. If you want the best, then you make it worth their while. If you want Tylenol prescribers, then you rename your EMS level workers as doctors. But you get what you pay for.

For this we need the best doctors in the world, and they need to be paid at world-class levels to bring the best minds into health care. ObamaCare already has folks talking about our best and brightest going elsewhere to seek their fortune.

In Luke 5, Jesus said that the sick need a physician (Luke 5:31 And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. )

Obama is driving the physicians out of the practice.

Jesus says they do and Obama says they don't.

My plan: leave the best system in the world alone.
