I BELONG TO THE STUPID PARTY
boblonsberry.com ^ | 08/17/13 | Bob Lonsberry

Posted on 08/19/2013 6:42:52 AM PDT by shortstop

I belong to the stupid party.

I’m a Republican.

We specialize in self-destruction.

The latest example is the recent decision by the Republican National Committee to ban CNN and NBC from covering any debates during the next GOP presidential primaries.

Somehow, in head-up-your-butt land, that makes sense. But out here, in the real world, it’s insane.

And petty, and one more sign that the people running this party are, in scientific terms, frigging idiots.

Here’s the story.

Apparently there is this she-devil named Hillary Clinton who wants to run for president. She’s the one who said we didn’t need more security in Benghazi. She’s the secretary of State who oversaw the greatest reversals of American influence abroad in modern history.

And she’s running for whatever you call a woman president.

And CNN and NBC want to do documentaries or movies or something about her.

They being the liberal media and she being their god, it’s pretty likely the documentaries and movies will be fawning propaganda pieces.

And this has ticked off the morons-in-chief atop my party. So they’ve decided to cut off their nose to spite their face.

They’ve forbad these two networks to cover our presidential primary debates.

Holy mother of what the hell are they thinking.

Let’s take this step by step.

CNN and NBC want to make documentaries and movies about Hillary. I think that’s called freedom of the press. The documentaries and movies will be slanted to make Hillary look good, because of the political bias of CNN and NBS. I still think that’s called freedom of the press.

To me, it is incomprehensible that a party so committed to the Constitution should get its panties in such a bunch because someone else exercises constitutional liberties.

Further, who actually cares what kind of puff piece somebody does on an opposing candidate? Don’t you win elections by having a candidate and a philosophy of your own which are preferred by the people? And in the course of a campaign aren’t there a lot of media products and opinions going every which way?

Isn’t that part of living in, uh, America?

And isn’t it kind of embarrassing to get worked up over it? Doesn’t that bespeak a certain shrillness and immaturity?

Conclusion 1: The Republican Party should ignore the programming decisions of NBC and CNN.

Now, to the debates.

Why do you have debates?

To expose your candidates and principles to the electorate.

How do you expose your candidates and principles to the electorate?

By putting them on TV.

What is it NBC and CNN do again?

Put things on TV.

And you told them they couldn’t put your candidates and principles on TV? And you did this to punish THEM?

Conclusion 2: I belong to the stupid party.

Put another way, how much does a one-minute political commercial cost? In rough terms, it’s about a gazillion dollars. In a televised debate, networks are giving you a couple of hours of free time. Multiply 120 by a gazillion and you get an idea of the value of that.

And the RNC just said it doesn’t want that.

To punish the commie-lib networks.

How do networks make money? By selling advertisements. How many advertisements are there in a televised debate. None. How much money does a network make off a debate. None. If you ban them from the debate, what will they broadcast? Something with commercials, which will make them a lot of money.

So, if you ban NBC and CNN from covering your debate, you lose airtime and they make money.

And you think this punishes them.

Probably, they’ll run their Hillary shows opposite your debate and draw a bigger audience.

Or you might find that in swatting two networks you have angered them all. Let’s say at their next socialist conspiracy meeting all the other alphabet networks decide to stand in solidarity with CNN and NBC. Say they call it journalistic integrity and declare that if all reporters aren’t welcome, no reporters will come. That if one networks is banned, all networks will boycott.

At that point, you are officially screwed.

And by “you,” I mean America.

Because as stupid as the people in charge of the Republican Party are, the principles of the Republican Party are this country’s only chance. This isn’t about winning elections, it’s about saving the country.

And you can’t do that if you let yourself be drawn into asinine fights over who broadcasts what.

Preach liberty, accountability and small government. Campaign for freedom and against the EBT. Stand for America and its founding documents. Raise Liberty’s torch high again.

And try not to be a frigging idiot.

One can hardly call them “debates” any longer, just
gaggle interviews.

Pick a topic/question and debate the issue, damn it.
I want Mark Levin for moderator.

I don’t belong to the stupid party, I’m a Constitutional
conservative.

RE :”I’ll never forget that moment. Herman Cain was that last to accept after seeing all the others had. I’d take that deal in a heartbeat.”

Bizarre moments like these in the GOP primary convinced me that in that imaginary world that they were playing in Obama had already lost the election and it was just a matter of the GOP picking the POTUS. Ahh, yes, the country was all ditto-heads in that world.

And in fact that was the tripe that Rush had been preaching, on and off.

With disastrous results. Then lib Romney who out-righted the rest gets to general election and duhhh has nothing to run on and boom 47% video fills the vacuum.

Here’s the trick, Bob. To allow the networks to put what is thinly veiled propaganda out on their candidate of choice, is NOT freedom of the press, unless the other side (that would be us) has the exact same opportunity.

And, Bob, you know that’ll never happen in a million years.

I rarely disagree with Lonsberry, but in this case I do.

The GOP should have stopped ANY working relationship with the Commie News Network long ago, and just stop talking to them completey.

They exist to make the GOP look bad. Every interview or debate is geared to make the GOP look bad. Why give them help?

AND!!! (here is an important point) by playing their propaganda piece on HilLIARy, the GOP could claim it is a free political advertisement, and demand equal time AND demand that the HilLIARy campaign be held to account for the equivalent amount of money that these commercials would cost at market value.

RE :”ABC is still in the running and their George Stephanopoulos blindsided Romney by asking what his stand was on states banning contraception. That question had no basis, as Romney replied, because no state was even considering a ban on contraception. “

Another trap the GOP jumped right into.

Obama rolling out the free contraception mandate on employers had to be one of his most popular give-aways and HE KNEW the ‘we already won the election’ party of fools jumps for it like mice jumping on that cheese in the mouse traps. (Rush was very helpful in this too with his pour gas on the fire)

But they were defending the ‘Catholic Church’ rights you say?

A few days later some Bishops come out attack the GOP on immigration and proposed budget cuts.
So much for that. GOP stands alone again and get snothing for it.

It doesn't matter what the GOP says. The lamestream media will do one of two things:
1. Make a HUGE story out of the GOP banning MSNBC and NBC
or
2. MAKE UP a story.

Either way, the GOP will come out on the short end of the stick.

THAT is why places like this and the rare conservative talk and T.V. shows are so vital to the American mind.

Its like in the GOP 2013 debates they were interviewing candidates to be a Rush substitute host when he takes off, not seriously looking to be elected POTUS.

“Homosexuals will be exiled to one of the remote Hawaiian Islands (I think there’s one with rampant leprosy).”

I would like to suggest to your majesty. An exception must be made here. You need to divide by sex, so you will need to two islands. Therefore no possibility of reproduction.

Can anyone give advice on how to quit membership in the Stupid Party?

I used to contribute faithfully, but I don’t any longer and have no intention to do so in the foreseeable future.

But in the meantime I get bombarded with mailed “Surveys” (requests for money) which I ignore and phone calls. I used to answer the phone but no longer do as I have caller ID.

Is there a form that I can fill out to tell the Gutless Old Party to take my name of their membership list?

I belong to the stupid party.

The men that run the GOP are not stupid. They know EXACTLY what they are doing. This 'Republican Party is the Stupid Party' meme is providing them cover. The Republican Party is there to dissipate, misdirect, and subvert conservative political energies and it does a supreme job.

I suppose now is as good a time as to let you and others know that scientists working under orders of Braaack Obama have been working night and day to discover an entirely new method of human reproductively.

In the case of a homosexual couple they are re-plumbing the appointed male subject in order that he can conceive and bear offspring.

This has been a case of trial and error, but finally, by relocating the part of the body known as the a-shole they were able to cobble together a sort of uterus. The a-shole is now locate in the middle of the forehead.

The sickening part of the experiment has been dealing with the afterbirth.

This is yet another example of how the Obama administration works tirelessly to allow homosexuals to live normal lives. Watching the re-plumbed one using the toilet is, we hate to admit, humorous and repulsive.

Several (a lot, actually) on FR advocate that talkshow hosts, like Rush, Hannity, Levin should moderate the debates.

I have great doubt that they would be that wonderful as debate moderators. I have heard too many of them, too many times, literally melt in fascination and awe when prominent politician figures show up on their programs to be interviewed. Those hosts turn into junior high school giddy little girls, guffawing at the being the presence of greatness.

I have heard too many of those hosts take stern, strong, adamant stands on issues. But when the politicial guest arrives on phone or in person to be interviews, the hosts melt and end up asking nerf-ball questions.
