I BELONG TO THE STUPID PARTY
boblonsberry.com ^ | 08/17/13 | Bob Lonsberry

Posted on 08/19/2013 6:42:52 AM PDT by shortstop

I belong to the stupid party.

I’m a Republican.

We specialize in self-destruction.

The latest example is the recent decision by the Republican National Committee to ban CNN and NBC from covering any debates during the next GOP presidential primaries.

Somehow, in head-up-your-butt land, that makes sense. But out here, in the real world, it’s insane.

And petty, and one more sign that the people running this party are, in scientific terms, frigging idiots.

Here’s the story.

Apparently there is this she-devil named Hillary Clinton who wants to run for president. She’s the one who said we didn’t need more security in Benghazi. She’s the secretary of State who oversaw the greatest reversals of American influence abroad in modern history.

And she’s running for whatever you call a woman president.

And CNN and NBC want to do documentaries or movies or something about her.

They being the liberal media and she being their god, it’s pretty likely the documentaries and movies will be fawning propaganda pieces.

And this has ticked off the morons-in-chief atop my party. So they’ve decided to cut off their nose to spite their face.

They’ve forbad these two networks to cover our presidential primary debates.

Holy mother of what the hell are they thinking.

Let’s take this step by step.

CNN and NBC want to make documentaries and movies about Hillary. I think that’s called freedom of the press. The documentaries and movies will be slanted to make Hillary look good, because of the political bias of CNN and NBS. I still think that’s called freedom of the press.

To me, it is incomprehensible that a party so committed to the Constitution should get its panties in such a bunch because someone else exercises constitutional liberties.

Further, who actually cares what kind of puff piece somebody does on an opposing candidate? Don’t you win elections by having a candidate and a philosophy of your own which are preferred by the people? And in the course of a campaign aren’t there a lot of media products and opinions going every which way?

Isn’t that part of living in, uh, America?

And isn’t it kind of embarrassing to get worked up over it? Doesn’t that bespeak a certain shrillness and immaturity?

Conclusion 1: The Republican Party should ignore the programming decisions of NBC and CNN.

Now, to the debates.

Why do you have debates?

To expose your candidates and principles to the electorate.

How do you expose your candidates and principles to the electorate?

By putting them on TV.

What is it NBC and CNN do again?

Put things on TV.

And you told them they couldn’t put your candidates and principles on TV? And you did this to punish THEM?

Conclusion 2: I belong to the stupid party.

Put another way, how much does a one-minute political commercial cost? In rough terms, it’s about a gazillion dollars. In a televised debate, networks are giving you a couple of hours of free time. Multiply 120 by a gazillion and you get an idea of the value of that.

And the RNC just said it doesn’t want that.

To punish the commie-lib networks.

How do networks make money? By selling advertisements. How many advertisements are there in a televised debate. None. How much money does a network make off a debate. None. If you ban them from the debate, what will they broadcast? Something with commercials, which will make them a lot of money.

So, if you ban NBC and CNN from covering your debate, you lose airtime and they make money.

And you think this punishes them.

Probably, they’ll run their Hillary shows opposite your debate and draw a bigger audience.

Or you might find that in swatting two networks you have angered them all. Let’s say at their next socialist conspiracy meeting all the other alphabet networks decide to stand in solidarity with CNN and NBC. Say they call it journalistic integrity and declare that if all reporters aren’t welcome, no reporters will come. That if one networks is banned, all networks will boycott.

At that point, you are officially screwed.

And by “you,” I mean America.

Because as stupid as the people in charge of the Republican Party are, the principles of the Republican Party are this country’s only chance. This isn’t about winning elections, it’s about saving the country.

And you can’t do that if you let yourself be drawn into asinine fights over who broadcasts what.

Preach liberty, accountability and small government. Campaign for freedom and against the EBT. Stand for America and its founding documents. Raise Liberty’s torch high again.

And try not to be a frigging idiot.

I am no longer a Republican.

I am now a proud member of the Monarchist Party and intend to run as King.

ALL Democrats will either be humanely executed or sentenced to life at hard labor making pebbles out of large rocks. Homosexuals will be exiled to one of the remote Hawaiian Islands (I think there’s one with rampant leprosy).

The Federal Reserve will be emptied out and burned. Those found in the building will be sent off to Alcatraz which will be, of necessity, reopened with no changes being made in the facilities.

Homosexuality, abortion, pornography, ‘gentlemens’ Clubs be closed. The DOE, along with many other useless socialist government follies, will be eliminated and Christian Churches and Jewish Synagogues will be charged with educating the youth of America.

All Muslim nests of ‘worship’ will be closed and their adherents will be assigned numbers that denote the place they’ll hold in the deportation lines.

The southern border will be closed permanently and mined, but after we’ve driven the unwashed horde back over that border.

Only embassies in the few friendly nations will be open. All the rest boarded up or sold.

There will be no foreign aid.

There will be no pensions for Congressmen. The Supreme Court will be dissolved until I can select replacements: no lesbians and no homosexuals. Congressmen will be selected by popular vote in each state while Senators will be selected by their respective state legislatures.

The IRS will be permanently closed and all laws pertaining to the confiscation of funds by that agency will be halted until we find a better way.

Jesse Jackson, Sharpton and all race hustlers and pimps will be imprisoned along with the NAALCP.

The military will lose all political, brown-nosing generals. Exemplary lower rated officers will be moved up into positions of authority. Women will be moved back into administrative positions and all homosexual or lesbians will be summarily discharged.

All tasks performed by the central government, with the exception of defense will be transferred to the states.

All federal lands and parks will be returned to the states in which that facility is located.

There are a lot more things I’ll be doing, but this is, after all, only my first day on the job.

Oh. One more thing. The current occupant of the disgraced White Hut along with his immediate family and all his evil lieutenants will be sent off to that remote Hawaiian Island. The one’s with the biggest hands will eat best because the only dish served will be poi.

Sorry Bob, but patronizing the communists NBC and CNN was the most foolish thing the Republican Party did. Lets kick ass with honest debate with someone like Megan Kelly.

WRONGO, BOBBO!

Letting the same people beat you over the head with bats, the exact same way, ALL THE TIME, now THAT’S idiotic.

Fact is, who the hell needs CNNNBC any damn way, any damn how, any damn more?

Hold your debates on FOX, and only FOX, you think people WON’T tune in?

Truth is there are lots of other venues than the obsolete network news.

Mr. Lonsberry is wrong.

It is absolutely proper for the RNC to threaten partisan media expulsion from its primary debates. More, the RNC should take back the party by making all it primaries closed primaries. And it should absolutely insist on true moderators and neutral venues for any debates.

This one small correct step by the RNC in insisting that it will not tolerate the partisan media’s glorification of Hitlery should be applauded, not deplored.

Was CNN and NBC any worse than the rest of them? Like ABC?

ABC is still in the running and their George Stephanopoulos blindsided Romney by asking what his stand was on states banning contraception. That question had no basis, as Romney replied, because no state was even considering a ban on contraception.

Of course, the candidates' muddled responses to that nonsensical question and concept opened the Pubbies to being blamed for having a War on Women.

Wrote this on his blog:

“I belong to the stupid party.”

Well then, you’ll fit in nicely.

This is the closest thing to a GOOD move I have seen RNC PRBS make since he assumed power.

About time the RNC started calling a few shots, or at least pulling out of ‘DNC called shots’. Why would you willingly walk into a rigged card game? About time they did something about the insane dearth of fairness and total lack of impartiality in the debates.

Why would any party go to any debates moderated by their opposition who do not ask questions but accuse?
Oh, yea the ‘stupid party’........they are correct on this.

Who is the guy that wrote this?

Um... Bob?

You don’t take your team into someone else’s stadium, to play by their rules, with their ball, and in front of their fan-base... And expect to win.

The GOP has issues. It’s wandered far from the path of Constitutionally limited governance, but owning their debates and Primaries is a good thing.

accept $10 in spending cuts for $1 in tax increases...

I’ll never forget that moment. Herman Cain was that last to accept after seeing all the others had. I’d take that deal in a heartbeat.

Bob is wrong simply because he presupposes the “viewing audience” utilizes the TV for “information”; Network TV schedules “entertainment”.

The debates are viewed in the same manner as American Idol. If the condidates don’t sing, dance or tell jokes the viewers will not watch, critically.

So the R. party gets reamed by conservatives for allowing debates to be moderated by libtards and then when they try to do something about that, they get reamed by other conservatives. Just can’t win.

So the author thinks big media as a propaganda arm of one party is perfectly fine? The low info voters believe the lies and vote accordingly.

I know what you mean. This whole hissy fit from Rinse n Repeatus has a piss anty feel to it.

What about in the meantime? Are RINOs going to continue to appear on CNN and NBC "news" shows?

Everybody knows when it comes down to where the rubber hits the road, The RNC will cave.
