Lavabit (email service) owner fears arrest for non-compliance after secret surveillance order

The owner of the encrypted email service used by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden says he could face criminal charges for refusing to comply with a secret federal court order issued last week.

Ladar Levison abruptly shut down his company, Lavabit LLC, last week to avoid being forced to hand over customers’ personal information and communications.

James Trump, a senior litigation counsel at the US attorney’s office in Alexandria, Virginia, contacted Levinson’s lawyer on August 8 - the day Levinson ended Lavabit’s services, NBC News reported. The attorney was told that Levison had “violated the court order,” leading to speculation that he may be charged with contempt of court.

Anyone else still defend this monstrosity as “But, it’s for the children! You want to keep children safe don’t you?”

All the while screaming for the right to murder a baby in the womb.

Where there is no cognitive, there is no cognitive dissonance.

Thinking about what you just posted, these are the SAME people who see a “Right to privacy” in the Constitution...

to murder the unborn...

But not to prevent the government from unconstitutionally spying on you.

No cognitive=idiots.

Moving toward old style tyranny: The black cars and agents come in the night and the target disappears. Time to read The Gulag Archipelago.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”

The answer is clear. Somebody needs to put their internet encryption business inside somebody’s womb where nobody can EVER have anything to say about it.

The Alinsky media is all about calling us crazy if we say what the real situation is. The Soros machine cunningly forced the “conservative” media to buy into this tactic by getting them to one-by-one ridicule the “birthers” who saw that 2008 was a coup in which foreign and domestic enemies illegally and through the use of crimes and threats installed a foreign enemy combatant into our White House. Once the “conservatives” swallowed the line that “birthers” had to be wrong because coordinated criminality on the part of the government could never happen, they made it safe for the government to do whatever coordinated criminality they wanted, since anybody who noticed and/or reported it would be hoist on their own petard. The only people still qualified to say anything are the “crazy birthers” - who have been maligned and libeled by everybody else.

To get us back to square one where the truth even matters, a whole lotta people who bought into the Alinsky attacks on “birthers” need to fess up and start over. That will be the turning point in this nation, and we will not be able to turn around until that happens.

There is no conservative media.

Most of the media somebodies in the major networks are members of CFR, Trilateral or other supranational organizations.

I’m sure it’s just for business connections and stuff. Nothing nefarious or anything...

So how do we GET a conservative media that is not afraid to tell the truth and that reaches large numbers of people? How do we get REAL freedom of the press - where the people speaking are actually free to say what is true?

I have for a long time believed that the years of President Wilson were just a noticeable political fence post in the subjugation of the USA Constitution to foreign powers, government, and especially financial. Europeans in the ilk of the Rothchilds were dismayed and frightened by the rise of a free government such as the USA. The depression years of the 1930s was a big opportunity for the socialism and elitism of FDR who tried to pack the SC so he would have favorable rulings for his programs. WWII made FDR stop and take a look at what was going on in the world. The USA by then was betwixt and between the two terrible groups of fascism and socialism. I’m sure a choice had to be made and for the USA looking at the guns of Japan the better choice was made. However, after extricating the Nation from the choice of WWII the politicians in the USA again under foreign influences put the USA on the political auction block such as the United Nations. It has been such for years but now exacerbated by all the feely-goody indoctrination especially as to Muslims, Latinos and even Eastern European criminal refugees.

You do realize that is hidden from you, your attorney and the courts is that the information was secretly (and illegally) obtained by the NSA, and then “laundered” to make it appear as if it was obtained legally.

Try to keep up with the news, if you are going to get snarky.

Well, Jeff Bezos just bought the Washington Post for $250 million.

Surely there are million/billion/butterdezillion-aires somewhere within the conservative ranks?

Lol. How cute. It is impossible to use it against you IN an OPEN court, but it definitely is not impossible to use it against you. For example, we now have SECRET courts eg FISA. And numerous SWATTed up non-judicial fedgov agencies.

Are they willing to tell the truth? Willing to face the risk that they’ll be tagged an Alex Jones right out of the gate? How will they establish their credibility, and with who?

Glenn Beck dutifully mocked the birthers, to keep his secretary safe. Then he created his own media company. But he couldn’t come clean on the birther issue without admitting that he lied when lives had been threatened and wouldn’t expose the lies he knew had been happening. Since then he’s tried to break some big stories but knew it couldn’t come from him because it would just be written off as crazy talk. Even with absolute proof that he handed off to the supposedly “credible” news sources, he could not get any editor to allow the reporters’ stories to run.

This is part of the reason I say that we have to have people who mocked the “birthers” come clean. It’s the only way to start over. I believe Breitbart was about to do that but the government listened in on his phone conversation with Joe Arpaio, knew he was thinking about turning and had the credibility, resources, and new willingness to turn things around, and so they killed him less than 5 hours later. The story that Michael Hastings was working on, about John Brennan, could well have included information about Brennan’s role in sanitizing Obama’s passport record. And he also IMMEDIATELY ended up dead in suspicious circumstances that the LAPD refused to investigate.

For the media to come clean on this issue is the thug regime’s worst nightmare. Whoever gave the signed statement to Doug Hagman has the ability to turn this country around. What he needs is the courage to do it. And a country that he and his family can get asylum from.
