In 2002, Brian Banks was a successful high school football player, looking forward to playing in the NCAA, and eventually, the NFL. But while he would eventually go on to play for the Atlanta Falcons in 2013, that future looked impossible in 2002 when he faced a sentence of 41 years to life, after being accused of raping a classmate in high school...

She should face his original sentence.

That would be justice. Maybe she should get worse, but at least that.

Wanetta Gibson — A heart-warming story of an Obama supporter “working hard” to care for herself and her family by any means necessary — The story will leave you with a warm fuzzy feeling in your gut all day.

"She should face his original sentence."

Agreed. IMO, there should be a law for theft of freedom through false accusation.

Banks enemy now is age. He will be lucky to play two full seasons. The first major injury that he suffers will end his playing days.

Assuming he was 18 in 2002, he would be 29 now. He could probably do at least five seasons depending on his health and stamina. I hope he kept up his exercise regimen while in prison, and apparently did. He has been given a second chance, and I predict he will succeed very well..........

This is a horrible story — he lost the prime of his NFL career because of a false allegation. Hopefully there is a plan and higher purpose at work here. Hopefully he can use his experience to move on to an even more rewarding career (perhaps not financially, but spiritually) helping people or building something. I don't mean to be pollyannaish about this bad situation, but many times a horrible event or tragedy in life leads to a more lasting reward.

Should she not spend a few years in jail for what she did?

Pictures of this girl made me think of Rachael Jenteal, and not because of color.

IQ of around 85. "Gimme 'Dat" mentality.

Seeing this more and more, and not just on FR. I'm thinking that some sort of rubicon has been passed, only no one is talking about it. Or, maybe they've just not noticed, yet.

The Wannettas and tire-necked Rachel’s from Da Hood, are now largely shown as victims of bullying or economic class oppression. The Victim Card has largely trumped the fading influence of The Race Card. Both ‘Cards’ used together can produce mucho milage and lucrative benefit, for a while, till you overplay your hand. A lot can happen in your 15 minutes of infamy if you grab that brass ring and brandish it own ones’s knuckles while fighting ‘the system’.

Average career for an NFL running back is 3 years. That is at the age of 22 or 23 just out of college.

If he gets injured, NFL teams will consider him too old to recover and they will move on.

Her current whereabouts were not known, casting doubt on the district’s ability to recoup the money through her property and future wages.
