I feel very sorry for this guy and his family, but if you try to pet a snake and the snake bites you it’s your fault not the snake’s. Animals are animals and do what animals will do.

This story is an excellent example of why we need standard capacity magazines, not reduced/limited capacity mags. When I have to go downtown I’ll probably start carrying another spare mag or two, at least in my vehicle if not on my person. Since flash-mob violence seems to be on the rise, I am going to up my load-out to 45 or 60 rounds. My 5.11 vest can easily hold that and more.
Technically, Mr. Widstrand, at last report, isn’t actually dead yet.
But, “Attempted Murder” is certainly appropriate, with an upgrade beyond “attempted” should Mr. Widstrand expire.

A better solution is to cut off their thumbs, to ensure they cannot grasp any lethal weapons in the future. Then release them back into their hood to be the victims of their fellow apes who (for now) retain their opposable thumbs.
I’m going to presume that the victim here was a Progressive Obama voter, who thought he had his bona fides down for being in the hood.
He was likely taught his entire life that those hairs standing up on the back of his neck were due to racism, so he taught himself to overcome his natural safety instincts.
He likely thought George Zimmerman was a murderer, who had the initial attack by Martin coming (due to profiling).
Given the condition of his brain, he is likely done learning new lessons, but hopefully his Progressive family and friends will open their eyes to reality.

Hardly. Post Civil War liberal Republicans imposed negro rule in many areas across the south. In many areas, public officials, including law enforcement personnel, were disqualified if they had supported the Confederacy which all of them had. Like today, it was not in the political wind to tame the bands of violent, recently emancipated slaves.
If the media and leaders don't step up to the plate and keep making excuses, this is only going to get worse and it will erupt in a civil war. You can't keep putting hay on smoldering ash and hope to smother it. It will only have more fuel when it does erupt.

You may be on to something...
That's great idea for many reasons. Make it voluntary, and reduce the convict's sentence one day for every two days on the gang, or something like that.
That would give the convicts something useful to do, and a goal. Put them to work cleaning up roadsides. And think of the deterrent value when a kid sees a chain gang at work.
By wait. Cancel that. The sight of a chain gang might offend a liberal driving by in a Nissan Leaf.
