Two important developments this morning. First: Attorney General Eric Holder will announce that the Justice Department will initiate broad nationwide attacks on election integrity measures like Voter ID using the remaining portions of the Voting Rights Act. Last month, the Supreme Court struck down the 1965 triggers that forced 15 states to submit election law changes to Washington D.C. for federal approval.
Second: despite the Supreme Court’s ruling, the Justice Department announced it will try to recapture Texas under Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act by showing the state continues to act with a racially discriminatory intent when passing voting laws.
Some of Holder’s reaction is because dozens of highly paid federal employees are now idled. James Buchanan won the Nobel Prize in Economics by explaining Holder’s actions as Public Choice Theory — bureaucrats announce policies to help bureaucrats, even if disguised as an act inspired by a public purpose.
For the last few weeks, Voting Section employees have taken extended coffee breaks, and even more extended lunches. But there was hope — outgoing Assistant Attorney General Tom Perez referred to the state of Louisiana as the “full employment for Voting Section lawyers state.”
That means Governor Bobby Jindal can expect more targeting by the DOJ Voting Section.
But this announcement is all about the midterm elections. Obama wants the House back, and the Justice Department is again being turned into a political weapon using the cloak of Civil Rights. This has become the new civil rights model. Because Democratic interests are so perfectly aligned with the civil rights establishment — in no small measure because of extreme block voting by American blacks — the DOJ is now an arm of the DNC.
Will states have the competence and ability to withstand Holder’s attack? There are ways. Whether they will use them remains to be seen.
Ted Cruz or Gov Perry should offer the following regarding Holder:Good idea, bears repeating.
Yes, there was a time in the south where racism was part of the restrictive practices of the government in power. However, as more Republicans have been voted into office in these southern states, much has been done to remove the racist policies that were put in place by over 100 years of democrats holding the majority of elected offices.
Maybe Holder, Obama and the Chinese think Texas stands in their way... Just a guess..
This is all looking very Nazi-ish.
AG Holder has begun his assault on the State of Texas. Holder, not happy with the SCOTUS decision on the Voting Rights Act, has asked a federal court in San Antonio to require the state of Texas to obtain approval in advance before putting future voting changes in place.
Hmmmm....federal court in San Antonio....isn't this the court that ruled against TX voter ID law, previously? The Supreme Court has ruled, yet witHolder's going to send it back to this court??
Do I have this right, or have I missed something?
We are really in a fight for our lives..
You’re exactly right.
“This illusion enables Obama’s behavior to go unrecognized by many who would otherwise be alarmed”.
They are the Useful Idiots.
Many of the political prisoners who Stalin sent to the Gulags and had later been released, wept when Stalin died. That’s very telling.
Why do you think HUD is gearing up to forcibly relocate minorities into the suburbs?
That is going to conflict with their Agenda 21 agenda of moving most people into the cities.
I hope you are right. I assume you live in Texas!
If this isn’t enough for Perry and Abbott to stand up and yell “Hell No!” and talk seccession, nothing will.
Perry, or someone should take a poll and ask “If Texas seceeded would you volunteer to help guard the border?” If it’s a huge “Yes” then go for it.
More nationwide vote stealing.
They are just BEGGING for trouble.
BRING IT ASSHOLES!
Finally, someone here actually understands what time it is.
We saw our last "honest" and open national election in 2008.
Cook County has gone national and 2012 proved that the entire electoral process is rigged - and the Party will ensure it's own will take the crown - even if it has to create 100% returns for their candidate in counties and wards their people control.
Holding onto what is left of your wealth, property and liberty - cannot be done by working with or within the corrupted system. We have exhausted every box of civility available to us. We're dealing with tyrants in power - and they have corrupted the nation and seized total power for themselves. The rule of law is dead.
We now live under the rule of the tyranny of men at their whim. Elections, protests - are playing in their sandbox by their corrupted rules as they make them up.
Texas is "red, white & blue" like the State Flag is. Texas will NOT become Commie. Too many freedom lovers: Oilies, Rednecks, Farmers, Business Owners and Vets. They can pass any law they want, they can try to subject and occupy Texas, but that will be much harder than they can imagine. I get up each morning and read the news then I look out my front door and tell myself this is still Texas where I live. Feel Better.
Bump! Obozo is going to meet someone who loves Texas as much as Obozo hates it.
Greg Abbott will be the next Governor of Texas.
