Bring Back Birtherism? GOP Rep. Says Congress Should Revisit Questions About Obama’s ‘Validity’
Mediaite ^ | June 18, 2013 | Andrew Kirell

Posted on 06/22/2013 1:58:39 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Appearing on TruNews talk radio this week, Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-SC) agreed with host Rick Wiles that Congress ought to revisit questions about the validity of President Obama’s birth certificate in light of the recent scandals involving the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Justice.

After Wiles and Rep. Duncan discussed their desire to pursue and deport illegal immigrants, rather than extend the possibility of citizenship to them, the host asked if the House has any intention to also “pursue Barack Obama’s phony identification papers.”

At first, Duncan shied away from directly addressing the so-called “birther” concerns, simply adding that Americans had a chance to vote Obama out in November and, in his belief, regrettably didn’t do so. Wiles then asked: “If we know they are lying about all these other things, why not go back and say ‘Well, maybe the first scandal was a lie too?’”

“There you go,” Duncan agreed. “I’m all with you. So let’s go back and revisit some of these things because Americans have questions about not only the IRS scandal but also about the president’s validity.”

Throughout Obama’s presidency, various conspiracy theories have arisen about his birth certificates, including the belief that the long-form certificate publicly released in 2011 was a forgery using image-editing software. Though these so-called “birther” beliefs have been out of the news in recent months, they still seem to hold weight with some of the president’s political opponents.

I suppose it really comes down to the location of Obama’s birth, doesn’t it, Nero? If he was born on US soil, he’s good to go; if he was born elsewhere, then he’s not a natural born citizen (age of mother was insufficient to confer citizenship under applicable US law).

So, was Obama born in Hawaii as he says now, or was he born in Kenya as others, almost certianly including himself by way of his own publicist, have claimed?

Just so happens that the immigration bill gives pardons to any illegal who forged documents. Sheriff Joe just submitted evidence to an Alabama court showing Obama’s birth certificate is forged.

I think the focus should remain on NSA, Benghazi, Rosen, AP, Fast & Furious kind of debacles.

Birtherism would be a distraction from things with real traction.

What Barry says about his place of birth is pretty much irrelevant. He was too young at the time to know where he was born.
“The state of Hawaii has said that the President was born there, that’s good enough for me.””—John Boehner, Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The state of Hawaii has issued six official verifications for his birth there plus two governors, one Republican and one rat, have confirmed those verifications.

I would absolutely LOVE an official grand jury investigation and a congressional investigation to resolve this issue once and for all but no prosecutor and no congressional committee chair seems interested.

Please don’t bother quoting Boehner—I care even less what he says than I do about what Obama says.

Obama’s own publicist, again, said for 16 years that Obama was born in Kenya. Other authors represented by the same publicist testified that they provided their own biographical details to the publicist, at the publicist’s insistence. The simple inference is that Obama himself claimed to be born in Kenya for sixteen years.

Like you, I would love an investigation. I would not hold my breath waiting for the useless, waste of skin Mr. Boehner et al. to get around to it. However, for posterity’s sake, the truth needs to be determined.

It doesn’t really matter what you or I think of Boehner, its what influence he has over congressional committees and possible investigations/hearings that matter. That’s the relevance of his statement.
There were ZERO objections to the certification of Obama’s electors in 2008 and in 2012 which means that no member of Congress was willing to stand up and take this issue on.
If Congressman Duncan thinks that this issue should be [re]visited, he is a sub-committee chairman of a relevant committee, HE could convene hearings beginning in his sub-committee.

So just because an criminal act doesn't get "traction" (what, in the media?), it shouldn't be investigated and prosecuted? The focus needs to be on ALL of them. To hell with what the Obammunist lickspittle media call us, we want to get to the bottom of this hoax once and for all!

Disagree. The others have traction.

This one doesn’t. It hasn’t really gotten anyplace in 6 years. It’s a distraction.

It hasn't gone anywhere because the people who could have pushed it have chickened out or have been threatened/cowed into silence by the Obammunists. If the people who could do something showed some backbone, like Ed Snowden did, maybe this greatest affront ever to the Constitution could gain some traction. Even if it didn't in the lamestream Obammunist lickspittle media, it would pi** off enough on our side to start doing something about it.

I have become convinced that those you speak of are dirty, to the point that they will not stir the pot. Their power and money has perverted them. I sure wish it weren't true but I believe that it is.

This isn't true. Parsed news releases and letters of verification that don't comply with their own state laws are from being "official verifications" of anything.

Congress has let some terrible things happen to this country under Obama. Their silence and inactivity are equal to dereliction of duty

Has any state, court or act of Congress successfully challenged any of those verifications?

Former Governor Lingle of Hawaii:
“You know, during the campaign of 2008, I was actually in the mainland campaigning for Sen. McCain. This issue kept coming up so much in the campaign, and again I think it’s one of those issues that is simply a distraction from the more critical issues that are facing the country. And so I had my health director, who is a physician by background, go personally view the birth certificate in the birth records of the Department of Health, and we issued a news release at that time saying that the president was, in fact, born at Kapi’olani Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii. And that’s just a fact. And yet people continue to call up and e-mail and want to make it an issue. And I think it’s, again, a horrible distraction for the country by those people who continue this. ... It’s been established. He was born here.”

You haven’t addressed the biographies. The simplest explanation is that Obama himself claimed to be born in Kenya. It’s high time for a hard look at Obama’s history.

More than a year before the publisher’s promotional bio for Obama’s never published book was written there were articles in major newspapers about Obama becoming the first black editor of the Harvard Law Review. Those articles which were written in advance of the “born in Kenya” error named Hawaii as Obama’s birthplace.

Here’s a link to the February 6, 1990 New York Times article:
http://www.nytimes.com/1990/02/06/us/first-black-elected-to-head-harvard-s-law-review.html

And the March 20, 1990. Los Angeles Times article which also names Hawaii as Obama’s birthplace.
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/thedailymirror/2008/09/barack-obama-ha.html

There were also articles in the Washington Post and the Chicago Tribune which also say “Hawaii.”

The woman who actually wrote the 1991 promotional bio (Miriam Goederich) has said that it was her mistake. I have no reason to doubt her.

You are being disingenuous when you describe this as “the 1991 promotional bio.” In fact, there were four versions of this bio, as it was continually updated, and was used from 1991 into early 2007.

I have every reason to believe that the publicist was told by Obama and his handlers to change it and to claim it was her mistake. You are too credulous.

I can provide the same number of citations from popular press claiming that Obama was born in Kenya.

I believe that Obama has lied about his place of birth. He either lied in the past to gain financial advantage, or he’s lying now. Either way, he’s a fraud and needs to be held accountable.

In the six plus years since February 10, 2007 when Obama first announced that he was running for president, no one has been able to convince a single congressional committeee chair; any local, county, state, federal judge or Supreme Court Justice or any of the 51 (including Washington DC) chief election officials of the states (usually Secretaries of State or Lieutenant Governors) that he was not born in Hawaii.
Here’s a link to 26 different references to Obama being born in Hawaii:

You are not listening to what I am writing: I am not saying Mr. Obama was born in Hawaii! I am saying that he LIED. He is either lying now, or was lying then. He is a fraud and a liar and this needs to be investigated. Perhaps you do not think that potential financial aid and selective service fraud by the President are not serious enough crimes to warrant investigation, but I do.
