AN EgyptAir plane from Cairo to New York has landed at Glasgow Prestwick Airport after being diverted.

The Boeing 777 - which was travelling to JFK International Airport - touched down at 2.30pm.
Air traffic control at the airport confirmed that action was taken following “a problem”, and that standard procedure had been followed.
Unconfirmed reports said that typhoon fighter jets escorted the plane to Prestwick.
Police Scotland confirmed there was an ongoing incident at the airport and officers had been sent to the scene.
It is not known how many people are on board the plane.
Eyewitnesses reported that the plane landed at a remote runway at the airport in Ayrshire. It is understood that the passengers and crew are being kept on board.
Armed police were in attendance and roads leading to the airport were closed due to the ongoing incident.

I seem to remember an Egypt Air co-pilot a few years ago who suddenly, and without warning said “Allahu Akbar” (according to the cockpit voice recorder) then put the passenger plane into a power dive toward the ocean, killing everyone aboard. Can’t remember the specifics.

Iirc , it was during the Clinton era . I think there was a dozen or so Isreali soldiers on board . But it wasn’t terrorism , Clinton said so .
