I find it fascinating that many of the SAME Freepers that had no problem with this under W are now outraged.

IIRC, most Freepers who agreed with Bush's REASONS and POLICY for doing this, also suggested that A President with a different political 'persuasion' (such as anti-American, Communist trained, Muslim born and raised criminal narcissistic homosexual) might MISUSE this power to overthrow our government and put us 'partisans' in jail.

They were (as we know now) correct.

Completely agree with post #9. Spying on people is bad, but passing a welfare-state building immigration bill is worse... locks in the Rat votes for decades.

The tipoff is the crack about "Tea Party factions" ..... which shows that Andrew McCarthy is a National Greatness/McCainiac GOP-e drone.

Those National Greatness types (who once inspired Limbaugh lunch-buddy Camille Paglia, back in the 1990's, to describe John McCain as "positively bulging with proto-fascist impulses") never seem to get pushed out of shape about even the most sinister excrescences of octopoidal Big Government.
