Liberals Pressure Obama Admin to Muzzle Wisconsin Talk Radio

A liberal activist and her group are continuing their efforts to silence talk radio in Wisconsin. Upset that the state’s two largest AM stations, WTMJ and WISN in Milwaukee, have show hosts with right-of-center political leanings, the group Media Action Center filed complaints last year asking the Federal Communications Commission to investigate the stations and force them to give more air time to Democrats and liberals. If they didn’t, the group asked the Obama Administration’s FCC to deny at least one station – WTMJ – its license to broadcast.

Last week, Sue Wilson, the head of MAC, used the anniversary of the initial complaints to tout a petition campaign she has launched to call on the FCC to crack down on talk radio across the country. Citing the recall election of Governor Scott Walker in Wisconsin as an example, Wilson said the actions of WTMJ and WISN show that talk radio abuses the public airways by promoting Republican candidates while ignoring Democratic candidates.

Wilson late last year filed a pleading with the FCC asking the federal government to deny the renewal of WTMJ’s broadcast license. Her petition, which is gathering signatures on a MoveOn.org hosted platform, states that, “The FCC must use its power to draw a clear distinction between fact and opinion in order to protect the public’s access to “bonafide” news on our public airwaves. Safeguarding the public interest is the FCC’s sacred obligation.”

You make a great point

How about in the RESPONSE to this we demand that public radio give equal time to conservative views.

You actually have a much better case for that because public radio is funded in part with our tax dollars.

Yet whenever a lib talk station drops the format for ANY reason (switch to another format, station sold, goes off the air because the land under the transmitter is worth more than they can bill over the next seven years...) it immediately becomes part of a GIANT CONSPIRACY THEORY!

Here’s our gal, the first lady of Wisconsin conserative talk radio, Vicki McKenna:

https://www.facebook.com/vickimckennapage

Not only is she down in the trenches with conservative groups and activists, but she’s on four Wisconsin commercial radio stations, you know - the kind that actually have to MAKE money instead of just spend it!

The left always tells us exactly who and what they fear.

Liberals try to boot Sykes and Belling from the air in Wisconsin

FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.

I’ve long said that the problem here in WI is that there is not a strong, conservative presence on the radio outside of Milwaukee. I think Vickie McKenna is now on on the western border, but it is too soon to show a difference.

The liberals already have TV, can't they just let us have our radio? We go to the radio because we have long since written off TV as lost.

“The FCC must use its power to draw a clear distinction between fact and opinion in order to protect the public’s access to “bonafide” news on our public airwaves. Safeguarding the public interest is the FCC’s sacred obligation.”

Let's parse this - The government must use its power to draw a clear distinction between fact and opinion. Really? Just as a practical matter, just imagine how many bureaucrats would have to be hired to keep track of every media out to do this. It's just been shown that the "factcheckers" out there have been biased against Republicans. What are government "factcheckers" going to do?

"Bonafide" news? {snort}. Benghazi, IRS, Fast & Furious and JournoGate have already been determined to be NOT "bonafide" news stories by the mainstream media. Just imagine what the Obama Administration would consider "bonafide"

"Sacred duty" of the FCC - huh? What happened to separation of church and state. Well, liberals consider big government to be god, so I can understand this liberals thinking that it's a sacred duty of government to protect citizens (serf, slaves, peons) from hurting their little heads with wrong information.

Just think of the mindset you need to think up an idea like this. Whew! She'd make a great concentration camp guard.

The idea that “conservative” political discussion should be censored depends on the planted axiom that journalism is objective. However,
People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices. It is impossible indeed to prevent such meetings, by any law which either could be executed, or would be consistent with liberty and justice. But though the law cannot hinder people of the same trade from sometimes assembling together, it ought to do nothing to facilitate such assemblies; much less to render them necessary. - Adam Smith, Wealth of Nations (Book I, Ch 10)
. . . and the “Associated” Press is nothing if not a virtual meeting of all major news organizations - a meeting which has been going on since before the Civil War. It didn’t take long for that continuous meeting to produce “a conspiracy against the public” in the form of journalism’s claim of “journalistic objectivity.” A century and a half later, the AP is little else but “a conspiracy against the public.”
When journalists claim “objectivity,” they mean nothing other than what the ancient Greek Sophists meant by “wisdom.” That resulted in the Philosophy school of thought, which eschewed any claim of superior wisdom, insisting only to love wisdom, and to demand facts and logic as the basis of argumentation. The Sophists gave their name to “sophistry” - which is the opposite of dependence on evidence and logic. “Objective Journalism” is sophistry, is a conspiracy against the public.
