Roger Ailes' letter to Fox employees
Foxnews.com ^ | May 23, 2013 | Roger Ailes

Posted on 05/24/2013 4:01:31 AM PDT by Timber Rattler

Dear colleagues,

The recent news about the FBI’s seizure of the phone and email records of Fox News employees, including James Rosen, calls into question whether the federal government is meeting its constitutional obligation to preserve and protect a free press in the United States. We reject the government's efforts to criminalize the pursuit of investigative journalism and falsely characterize a Fox News reporter to a Federal judge as a "co-conspirator" in a crime. I know how concerned you are because so many of you have asked me: why should the government make me afraid to use a work phone or email account to gather news or even call a friend or family member? Well, they shouldn’t have done it. The administration’s attempt to intimidate Fox News and its employees will not succeed and their excuses will stand neither the test of law, the test of decency, nor the test of time. We will not allow a climate of press intimidation, unseen since the McCarthy era, to frighten any of us away from the truth.

You got it, bro...

For some reason, some on our side seem to help perpetuate the McCarthy myth. He knew who the bad guys were, and he went after them.

Our modern day GOP should take a lesson from it.

They’re not all spineless...

The “old guard” yeah, but LTC West, Gov Walker, Issa, Lee, Cruz, Rand Paul... I think we have more “collective” spine than we give credit for...

We will see how the amnesty scam works out. I grant you, we have a few good men, but is a few enough?

“...we have a few good men, but is a few enough?...”

“We are enough to do our country loss” as Henry V said at Agincourt.

We’ll all play our small part in the grand battle, and what will be will be.

If we had a REAL battle, we would win easily.

RE REal Battle:

This is as real as any other. Cold war versus Hot War, still war.

What did Clauswitz say - “War is politics by other means”??? Well, politics is dress rehearsal for war, pretty much.

I honestly don’t recall Williams ever expressing in independent thought. He follows the talking points to the letter. He clearly isn’t even in the vicinity of the sharpest tool in the shed.

None. All McCarthy managed to do was slow down the Communists by a tiny bit. They have controlled the country for long before McCarthy and long after. Meanwhile, they redirect and make everyone else the “enemy,” never revealing their own true evil and psychoses.

I strongly disagree that they are the best we conservatives have in regard to news media and I disagree that Fox causes much ire among liberals.

If the gov’t is Republican, Fox and Ailes are okay with their overreach. That isn’t conservative! Moreover, Fox provides liberals ammunition and, at times, a voice to speak to conservatives when they (the liberals) decide to accept invitations to come on to Fox. They are not our friend, and neither is Ailes, nor are they the closest we have to a free press. The Internet provides much more opportunity than the boob tube.

You do realize that according to law that if he used that against him that he would be sued and lose right?

Many people do not know their history. McCarthy wasn’t perfect, no one is, but he did a bang up job of weeding out communist cockroaches..he was voracious like a dog with a bone. We need the likes of him NOW!

You left out one brave, hard-hitting Patriot...I can't think of his name..is it Trey Gower or Gowen? It's been said he should run against Lindseed Graham..they're from the same state, and he would be damn good replacement...the man fights, he articulate and knows his business, and he is fearless.

“...McCarthy wasn’t perfect,...”

No, he wasn’t. He drank too much (but what IS “too much”?). He was a loud and obnoxious SOB.

But he was OUR SOB, an American war vet who loved his country, and people who knew better have let the Left re-write history into making him a monster.

You are correct. We need people like him now.
