These students are right. Drinking tequila and eating tacos are stereotypes and aren’t authentic Mexican behavior. That’s why I prefer to celebrate Cinco de Mayo by milling around in a 7-11 parking lot all day.

Everybody drinks green beer & guinness on st. Paddys day, followed up by corned beef and cabbage. Do people of Irish descent get all worked up about these stereotypes? in short, no. (personally, I don't mind the stereotypes at all- especially if you're buying a round or two for me)

In Minnesota, May 17th is celebrated by the Norwegian-Ameicans - Syttendae Mai! their Independence day from the Swedes. I wonder what would offend them? Flying a Swedish flag, perhaps?
