Whistleblower’s yarn fails to tie Benghazi lapses to politics
WaPo ^ | May 8, 2013 | Miss Dana Milbank

They summoned a whistleblower to Capitol Hill, but instead they got a virtuoso storyteller.

Gregory Hicks, the No. 2 U.S. diplomat in Libya the night Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans were killed, was to be the star witness for Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), the man leading the probe of the Obama administration’s handling of the attack on the diplomatic outpost in Benghazi.

But despite Issa’s incautious promise that the hearing’s revelations would be “damaging” to Hillary Rodham Clinton, Hicks didn’t lay a glove on the former secretary of state Wednesday. Rather, he held lawmakers from both parties rapt as he recounted the events of that terrifying night — revealing a made-for-Hollywood plot with a slow, theatrical delivery and genuine emotion.

He spoke of watching TV at his residence in Tripoli when a security officer “ran into my villa yelling, ‘Greg! Greg! The consulate’s under attack.’ ”

Agreed, but when I saw how Milbank continues to flail around with no useful purpose, it popped into my mind.

The liberal media has been forced to write about it...the cat is out of the bag, and they can only hope for damage control and spin.

MSNBC Morning Joe today was talking about it at length, with grim faces as if someone had died (other than the victims). They are still hoping to keep any damage away from Hillary.

The demotion of Hicks for questioning the Youtube Fantasy is as much of a smoking gun as there ever was.

Put on top of it - the instruction to not meet with the congressman Cheevitz? that went to Libya. Then followed up with the state dept attorney trying to horn in on all the meetings.

Cover-up!

Several things Dana Doesn’t dare mention however.

First is the TWO orders to stand down sent to Special Ops personel that were boarding a plane from Tripoli to Bengazi.

Second, the email sent from the Second in command at State to others including the Most Senior Administration Personel (Hicks) in libya at the time at the State Department that Trey Gowdy read from, that stated that this Person TOLD the Libyan President the day after the attack it was a terrorist attack with ties to Ansar Alshari. Followed by weeks of intentional Lieing to the public and congress as to the cause of the attack.

Third, the Babysitter that was sent from the SOS to shadow Rep. Chaffitz and Ambassador Hicks ordered to NOT meet with him without the SOS lawyer present. When a meeting took place that the SOS Lawyer didn’t have clearence for, the phone Call from Hitlary’s Chief if Staff Cheryl Mills.

Dana care to comment? Nah I thought not. You are too busy sucking the Administrations ass. It’s Pathetic you call yourself a “Reporter”.

“No smoking gun” will be repeated over and over and at least 5 times on Sunday

Yup. You can bet on that.

Bring on more hearings, whistle blowers and witnesses. We'll see how long this goes being a "no smoking gun" event...

Circling the wagons.

Trying to redefine the reality we all saw and heard yesterday.

And Congressman Chaffetz was not the only one crying.

Misdirection and bait and switch are favorite tactics of the criminal enterprise democrips. The political issue is the regime used the excuse of a video on youtube to exhonerate their purposed abandonment of the mission in Benghazi. So, the double talk is to address 'no smoking gun regarding the response to the attack while it was going on' when the issue is the huge lie Rice spittled on complicit media, then if the false accusation of the youtube being the reason for the attack is raised, the media are directed to dabble in the particulars of the attack rather than address the regime lying to the world to cover their fecklessness under fire.

The media have eagerly transitioned from the fourth estate to the fifth column enemy of We The People. Sadly, the dumbed down public haven't a clue whom the enemy is.

I watched cnn yesterday just to see what they were reporting on. wall to wall about the 3 women kidnapped for 10 years, not even anything scrolling at the bottom of the screen. I agree it's a big story but not one mention about Benghazi, and I monitored it for a while. Went to FOX, they managed to cover both stories simultaneously with no problem. That tells me cnn was deliberately ignoring Benghazi.

Ignoring? ... cnn is actively squelching the story. When the noise level gets to a certain level, they will switch to cover-up dissonance mode. ‘A greater hive of scum and villainy ...’

This is what MUST happen. I didn't get the impression that Rep Cheffetz, Rep Gowdy, and Rep Issa have any intention of letting this horror sink quietly beneath the sea.

Part II hearings should include the need to determine WHO gave the "stand down" order - twice! - and WHERE was the CIC who left these Americans to die.
