If things have not changed since Nixon then a Special Prosecutor serves at the digression of the President. Nixon fired his Special Prosecutor investigating Nixon (iirc). Did not hold (the firing) for people went nuts but was tried (iirc).
I think Nixon thought to get “his guy” in place to keep control. That, of course did not work out for him. I believe Congress has power to appoint one themselves

These politicians are so filthy. Call Bohner’s office to sound off about this topic, and while on hold forever, you will get a medley of American/Patriotic songs. All I can think of, while I hold for Bohner, who never has anyone answering his phones, is that they are not answering their phones, because they have a fancy lunch or golf game to get to.
Our government is full of greedy, lustful, fat jerks. How dare he play patriotic songs, when he is just looking to get fat off, off of the integrity of men who have died.

I skimmed through the early posts, and I think yours is the first post that seems to take into account that this is not only an extremely important issue, but also that there are several delicate steps to take in getting bringing those responsible to accountability.

After a bunch of runaround, it seems like an independent investigation has to be appointed by the Attorney General.
If so, it’s never going to happen. Eric Holder was put in place specifically to prevent justice from ever happening, and he’s been very effective for that purpose. The only way the road will be cleared is if Eric Holder and enough of his underlings are impeached, that somebody with integrity is left at the helm pending new appointments.
I agree with your thoughts here. If Holder makes a move to do an end run around by appointing special prosecutor first...the truth will never come out.
Yes. If the process is working at all, then let it work. Boehner (at least) gave us a sound bite off the hearing. Will the WH stonewall? Yes.

Will other committes (Armed Services) conduct hearings? I hope so.
