There was a Mormon onboard my sub that continuously shared his Mormon faith - it was kind of annoying!

The first amendment guarantees him the right both to express himself and to have that be about his religion. Our choice is to debate him or to ignore him.

The Founders thought it better to permit free expression than to have the government involved in trying to control what people think and say.

I agree with them. Giving government the power of thought and speech police is far more dangerous than some random guy talking about his understanding of God.

Absolutely right! One of my former managers was a Mormon 'bishop'. He loved to talk about his faith. Ironically, it helped me to delve deeper into my own faith in order to rebut some of his accusations. Neither one of us, however, ever attempted to coerce the other. If anything, it was most insightful since up until that point in time, I had never met a Mormon nor had anyone ever challenged what I had been taught.
