Breaking: Pentagon Confirms May Court Martial Soldiers Who Share Christian Faith
Breitbart ^ | 5/1/13

Posted on 05/01/2013 9:27:40 AM PDT by Nachum

The Pentagon has released a statement confirming that soldiers could be prosecuted for promoting their faith: "Religious proselytization is not permitted within the Department of Defense...Court martials and non-judicial punishments are decided on a case-by-case basis...”.

The statement, released to Fox News, follows a Breitbart News report on Obama administration Pentagon appointees meeting with anti-Christian extremist Mikey Weinstein to develop court-martial procedures to punish Christians in the military who express or share their faith.

(From our earlier report: Weinstein is the head of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, and says Christians--including chaplains--sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ in the military are guilty of “treason,” and of committing an act of “spiritual rape” as serious a crime as “sexual assault.” He also asserted that Christians sharing their faith in the military are “enemies of the Constitution.”)

Being convicted in a court martial means that a soldier has committed a crime under federal military law. Punishment for a court martial can include imprisonment and being dishonorably discharged from the military.

The first amendment guarantees him the right both to express himself and to have that be about his religion. Our choice is to debate him or to ignore him.

Absolutely right! One of my former managers was a Mormon 'bishop'. He loved to talk about his faith. Ironically, it helped me to delve deeper into my own faith in order to rebut some of his accusations. Neither one of us, however, ever attempted to coerce the other. If anything, it was most insightful since up until that point in time, I had never met a Mormon nor had anyone ever challenged what I had been taught.

“...fallible and uninspired men, have assumed dominion over the faith of others...”

Figures a hypocrite would quote another hypocrite about a hypocritical subject about a convoluted argument, lol.

What is liberty and truth? You deem to shut that up apparently. Acts of coercion, like forcing to attend certain religious denomination practices is one thing, but when you whitewash debate and openness in allegiance to a particular State, you are welcoming totalitarianism, in this case, from a Marxist direction. Congratulations on being a tool.

I guess the Colonel who prayed in Jesus' name at a picnic I attended on military grounds for military personnel leaving to PSA should be facing a court martial? Btw, he was a commander, not a Chaplain. Talk about State sponsored tyranny over the mind of men that Weinstein promotes indeed.

Yes, another example would be Hal Moore who is a devotee of the Latin Mass or a more current example would be LTG Boykin.

[I guess the Colonel who prayed in Jesus’ name at a picnic I attended on military grounds for military personnel leaving to PSA should be facing a court martial?]

I s'pose that would partially depend upon whether attendance at the picnic was mandatory.

In America, the faith of an Individual is rendered between their self and their Creator - not as a state-established construct for the pleasure of the money changers perched upon the temple steps.

There was a Mormon onboard my sub that continuously shared his Mormon faith - it was kind of annoying

So your right not to be kind of annoyed trumps everyone else's right to free speech and religion?

So you would use the power of the state to silence people who might annoy you?

Nope, but your Weinstein character that you pimped sure as hell would call for the Col.’s “chains” in the face of a long standard practice of public religious observances.

Your hyperbole is pathetic, btw, abuse does not correlate to the censorship you propose. Would rather live in a world where men are free to openly express ideas while men can openly say I don’t give a hoot.

>>your Weinstein character

Weinstein’s character is his own, and without the Farce on the Family’s McSheeple — that character would be irrelevant.

We believe religion and free speech are rights granted by God.

Essentially, we think God says we can speak our mind. God doesn’t say there won’t be consequences for it.

All the US Constitution says is that the government can’t control or retaliate for your speaking your mind on any subject: God, politics, etc.

If the consequence of my talking to you about God is that you ignore me in the future, then I’ve got to deal with that. If you punch me in the jaw for it, then I get to rejoice because they hated the prophets before me. On the other hand, I might find a better way to tell touchy people about God or learn to altogether ignore those who I don’t think are ready.

What shouldn’t happen, though, is someone enlists the government to silence all who say things they don’t like to hear.

Why in the world would anyone want to give the government that kind of power!?

Those with hatred in their hearts will not understand what you are saying.

I saw the same kind of hate on the thread about some tv personalities that are Christian who went to the correspondence dinner for Obama. You would think those personalities were Devil worshipping evil doers.

Reagan was unable to do much more than stall the coming darkness, and he had Sandra Day O’Connor and Anthony Kennedy blowing out his candles.

So now everyone in the US government has to chose THIS day, who they will serve.

Let the pieces fall where they may.

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

I’ll take my 14 years of enlisted and officer experience and sit here quietly while you educate me.

Apparently I have missed something over the course of the last 14 years. It appears that FSE is the only member of all four branches of the Armed Forces. That must be the case, since he is claiming that HE knows everything about everything that goes on in each branch, and at every base, fort, grounds, AO, etc. I don't know if it would be cool to be that omniscient, or just a gigantic pain in the butt.

We need to disband America's standing army immediately.

The same goes for America's standing police army.

Amen!

Revelation 12:10-12:

"Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.”"

Isn't that exactly what you're claiming here?

my feelings too, from what I have seen to having pals still serve to seeing crosses taken down to homosexuals trying to get married quarters by lying to skinny unfit or very overweight women joining.
Damn right it changed and today we have officers who care more about their own promotion it seems than the country.

BTW Thanks for the service from your family pal, looks to me I will be the last from my family sadly and now my oldest is looking at other avenues

I know you won't believe this, but I'll say it anyway: the military's culture hasn't changed a lot over the years, . . .

I'd say I was being pretty specific with calling you out on one area in which you are obviously out of touch with reality. The culture in the military has greatly change in just the time since my son enlisted (2005). I hear from him often regarding changes, and most of which are NOT FOR THE BETTER, as you claim.
