Daimler is set to profit from theBoston Marathon bombing drama in a strange way. The car hijacked by Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was a 2013 ML350 with an active telematics subscription. Mercedes-Benz USA confirmed to Automotive News [sub] that “it was contacted April 19 during the hunt for Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. Mercedes was asked to help find the vehicle using the Stolen Vehicle Location Assistance function on the crossover’s mbrace telematics system.“
Mercedes-Benz USA CEO Steve Cannon could tweet: “Just found out that our mbrace2 technology in the stolen Mercedes helped locate the Boston terrorists! Thanks to our amazing law enforcement.”
The Mercedes is owned by a 26-year-old Chinese entrepreneur, who told the harrowing story of his abduction and escape to the Boston Globe.

The owner of the car also left his iPhone behind when he ran away.
From reports I have seen, Boston PD and FBI immediately used this to find location and bearing of vehicle.
The Tsarnaev brothers wanted to be styling.
The older one certainly had the Rico Suave persona, at least until he went full Al Queda.
Definitely the “coexist” identifies a soft target.
So does the “=” or “Obama/Biden”.
Not so sure about the Obama/Biden sticker.

Yes, likely. But the ‘telematics’ function not only could provide location, but ‘control’ functions too (i.e., they could have shut down the car so it wouldn’t run).
There would be a secondary observable condition on that one, I suppose.
And yet they still couldnt find the guy.
That COEXIST bumper sticker was a hoax. Too good to be true.
The taxi driver claimed he left his iPhone in the vehicle so that the authorities could track it.
Make sure all his terrorist buddies read this so they can get it right next time.
Those telemetrics systems MB use are designed and sold by a US company, Near Atlanta Ga.

Was not a hoax, just misinformation as the Coexist sticker was on the Honda CRX that the brothers left behind, or did they?
It is now reported by neighbors from the shootout area that both cars were on the scene.
If that is the case, why did they drive around Boston for 90 minutes when their getaway was assured only to realize when hey were ready to get out of town that they were low on fuel and had no money?
