It is time for a dishwasher. My last dishwasher was replaced three times by the manufacturer before I ripped it out and started handwashing. time to go back to dishwashers and I cannot find a timed dishwasher, just ones that are ENERGY EFFIEICENT with sensors.
The biggest problem I had with the newer untimed dishwashers is that I would have to rinse the dishes instead of scraping them.
the second problem is that because I did not rinse them, they ran for six to eight hours becaus there was debris that the sensors picked up.
Lousy design.
I am looking for a good dishwasher, that can actually be effective and clean the dishes now that the EPA doesnt permit us to have phosphates. Or timed washes.
Any war stories? Most of the dishwasher reviews out there aree actually paid ad reviews placed by an agent of the manufacturer.
Forget consomer reports.

Some years ago we needed to replace the toilets that had been in the house since it had been built. My husband went up to Canada (we live in the Seattle area) to get the toilets. At that time, Canada still had the regular toilets; and, I don’t know if they still do as it has been a while. I have always figured that if we ever move, we take the toilets with us.

The Europeans take fixtures. Now we know why, the socialists ruin everyhthing.
Here is what we did. We found a nearby restaurant supple type store that sells to the public. They sell REAL phosphate Cascade. We (rinse) our dishes, put the real cascade in the dishwasher. At the rinse cycle we let the water fill, then snatch the door open and pour a cup of cheap store brand vinegar into the bottom. We stopped using the rinse agent because it FOAMS up and was screwing up the efficiency of the machine.
We have a small sized DW, but it has a larger capacity than most the same size. Using our “system” and the “good” dish soap, we get great results and the inside of our dishwasher shines like silver.
Same thing with washing machines.
The idiot government bureaucrats decided how much water I should be ‘allowed’ to use to wash my clothes.
Apparently not enough to actually get them clean
so I just run it for 2 cycles, for a net 20 gallons MORE water used (shhhh don’t tell the laundry police)

Since they took out the phosphates we have had to rinse off the dishes in the sink then run the dishwasher on the longest “pots and pans” setting instead of the normal setting. To save the environment, we now use several gallons of water pre-washing the dishes then the dish washer now runs about three times longer and probably also uses a lot more hot water.
I have made my own laundry soap. Fast and easy. Better in winter than summer.
No you dont save energy with the new designs. But some doob in Washington has met a goal. Less water and less heated water I would guess.
Well when I talked to the chickie in appliances today she said that she never heard of dishwashers without sensors and did not believe there ever were dishwashers with timers. And she was about 45.
You can get in the tub first...you don't have to wait 'til it starts filling. Just get in and close the lid. It's all computerized...no more choosing the water level.
It's irritating to me because I liked to put the soap in the water. Anybody who put their hands in otherwise, deserves to have happen what would happen.
I've never heard of anybody losing a hand to a clothes washer.
Amazing what power the regulatory agencies have.
