I'd rather have a Malinois. Smaller, smarter, sounder.
Of course for nose and work ethic nothing beats a Lab. I have a small one that's trained for detection work (among other things), she's a caution. 12 years old and will work till she drops.
I have a Malinois myself , by far the best (loving and intelligent ) breed I have ever had . Like my own child to me .
