The Government or the media. Which is worse? Which is more corrupt, dishonest and untrustworthy? Think about the agendas they both have and give us an answer.

Really? Where in our Constitution or in our laws do you see the media being delegated these powers?

There’s no distinction between them - MSM and current liberal government.

over 90% media admit they vote democrat.

They are just the “official” mouthpieces for government. they essentially are government, they are the Ministry of Truth and are counted on to spin events and ideas the way the (liberal) government wants them spun.

And if you don’t think that’s true, compare the MSM coverage of the president, and for example, issues between 1989-1992, 1993-2000, 2001-2008, and 2009-present.

The tone of the coverage under repubs is advesarial, critical and if they can find a negative angle they will run with that. The tone of coverage under dems is collegial, laughing, jovial, friendly, supportive, apologetic, and make excuses for anything bad they have to cover because it’s just so blatant they can’t ignore it.

THerefore MSM IS the democrat media arm of government, they ARE liberal government’s “Ministry of Truth”. They are a part of government. Their job is to further the agenda of liberal politicians, give them cover, and run hit pieces and attack pieces on enemies and enemy ideas and principles. All while claiming objectivity and unbiased reporting.

It’s laughable. It’s why more and more people don’t buy their crap anymore.

Implicit in your premise is the idea that the two are separate entities. Actually, they are, despite what some posters are saying. The confusion is due to the fact that they have the same agenda, both having been taken over by the Left. The question is which one’s being polluted by the Left does the most damage. I would say the media. Propaganda is very powerful. The politicians couldn’t get away with much if the media didn’t cover for them.

The government is the media and

the media is the government.

They are two ends of the same sausage.

Neither. Your question starts with the false premise that one is worse than the other. That's not true.

Government wouldn't be able to get away with the things it does without their willing co-conspirator media whores and the media whore's wouldn't exist as they do today without the Government's sanction.

They're sympatico. They're also both parasites on the same host that is the American People. When two leeches (parasites) are sucking away your life's blood, how does one decide which one to pluck off first?

More “No Opinion” answers. It seems most FReepers have no opinion on the question, or worse yet - they honestly believe they are the same thing!

(Did I miss the election for CBS anchor?)

Which is worse? The media by far.

The government, like all governments, always grow even if we give them the benefit of the doubt and say they are well-intentioned.

It is the media’s job to HONESTLY report the facts, not their opinions, but today it is always some facts only if the facts support their opinion.

If the media did there job, the government would begin to shrink and correct itself. Without an honest media, the government is free to grow as large and powerful and abusive as it can get as long as it leaves the media alone.

So, IMO it is no contest and honest media is much more important.

The government.

It is a flat out betrayal when they don’t follow the constitution or the wishes of those they represent. They cut backroom deals and get connected in office, it will line their pockets for a lifetime. They make laws that the little people must follow but those laws don’t apply to them. We vote for/hire them and they abuse and mock us—they look out for one another no matter if it is the honest position to take or not.

We don’t vote for and hire the media but if we were determined, we could fire the media. How long could the media function if refused in mass to watch/read/listen to their BS? The media is filthy low down scoundrels but government is the greater evil.

I can turn the media off, I must wait years to try and vote a turd out of office. Even then they have people who own them and pay whatever it takes to have who they want in office. Sometimes the good guy wins but mostly it is all corrupt.

Come on. This ain’t hard. Lets start with this:

Are they different than each other? I hope you say ‘yes’. So if one is different than the other, then can’t one be worse than the other?

The media is worse because they are not held responsible for the lies they report and the propaganda they spew. At least we have a chance of voting out the major players in our government if they betray us. We cannot do that with the media.

Thank you.

So far - the “I don’t know’s” are winning. Then the media. And in last place for the worst: The Government.

If you are asking about dishonest or untrustworthy, the media.

However, for which is worse, I will have to say the government.

The reason is quite simple: I can opt out (and have) from reading CNN/NBC etc, so whatever they are up to do not affect me directly. I can not opt out of whatever the government is up to. Either group can claim that I’m a likely terrorist for no reason other than I’m a white conservative, but only one can strip-search me at an airport. Either one can call me a greedy rich person, but only one can force me to change my health plan. Either one can spread economic lies, but only one can actually crash the economy.

Both are fixin to start a shooting war.
Too many have sold themselves into slavery to government.
The media just thinks it’s a game.
It’s not.
They could find themselves in the middle.

“Neither. Your question starts with the false premise that one is worse than the other. That’s not true.”

I do not believe for a moment this is a false premise.

History has shown us that governments, unions, business, churches, organizations, regulatory agencies... always thirst for more power and if the public does not know about it, even in a “free” society they cannot do anything about the natural order of things.

I want an aggressive media to go after ALL sides of the political aisle as I 100% guarantee you any party will become abusive if left unexposed and hidden like a cockroach. A government of 100% GOP robots would be just as dangerous as what we are experiencing today.

This is why the conniption fit thrown by most liberals over FOX or Glenn Beck as they turned on the spot lights for these little cockroaches and they don’t like it one bit.

A bunch of medium size media outlets, yes even some with a liberal view, would be vastly superior to what we have today.

Give us more FOX more Glenn Beck’s to counter the 90% monopoly of the MSM. The more media outlets, the less likely hood of a media monopoly.

Really? Our Constitution begs to differ. Come on... Pick one.

Considering a government that would enact Fast & Furious and ignore all restrictions of search or seizure (executive), the Affordable Care Act/GCA/NFA (legislative), or that would declare the Constitution of no effect [see Schenck v. United States] (judicial) there is one question that needs to be asked: does our constitution matter?

If it does, then what are the penalties born of violating it? As far as I can tell the only penalties for violating a Constitution are to the people rather than the perpetrators; until there are real punishments to the perpetrators of these violations then there no point in having a constitution.

The two entities are the same, at least as our government is now constituted.
