Cause of Texas fertilizer plant blast that killed up to 15 'suspicious:' source

A senior Obama administration official said a series of briefings overnight have produced concern the Texas blast could have been at least criminal in nature. Authorities are trying to contain their speculation for fear of causing a panic, but the official told The Post the cause of the blast is "suspicious."

Authorities suspect the blast was set off by a truck or rail car holding a large quantity of ammonia that somehow caught fire or blew up. Ammonia, under certain conditions, can become combustible or explosive.

"It's 50-50," the source said. "Some sort of explosion caused the ammonia truck/rail car to create a shockwave up to a half-mile away, destroying that little town."

NYPost isn’t exactly reliable. They are probably going to be sending big checks to the two people they smeared about the marathon case.

Kinda noticeable that we didn't jump on this...Are we getting lax and/or more patient?? Or do we know that these things happen occasionally and we'll let it pass until we're told different.

Like the JFK Library fire....What were the chances of something occurring 10 minutes prior to the explosions.

Ban guns! That is the least we can do to honor those killed in this senseless explosion. < /sarc>

Those of you who remember the X-15 rocket plane... it’s fuel supply was 1300 gallons of anhydrous ammonia.

It also carried liquid oxygen, of course.

Flash back: remember when during the Bush Administration that lame stream media (20/20 or another one) sent some ‘reporters’ and muslim apologists (CAIR?) to West and did that ‘expose’ with the fake Muslim woman in the store to try and illicit ‘racist’ reactions to her? I remember a thread here we had on the whole ridiculous thing. Could be a motive though if this was an attack.

Prayers that this is not terrorism. If it is...none of us are safe anymore.

Okay, let me translate this statement into Conservative American English.

There were a few meetings at the White House last night and they were trying to figure out how to spin the fertilizer accident into a crisis event that could be "managed" by Obama.

"If we claim and maintain that this was a criminal act maybe we can angle it into more federal control."

"Yeah, let's go with that."

Didn’t buy the JFK fire but will cut slack on this incident and wait for more info. Although the timing of these things always makes you wonder.

“They are probably going to be sending big checks to the two people they smeared about the marathon case.”

Are you talking about the Moroccan runners? There was nothing wrong with that story. They were the prime suspects at the time and all the networks reported on it.

Sounds to me like the administration can’t find a conservative “whitey” to blame for Boston, so they’ll drum up charges on some poor fellow that works(-ed) in the fertilizer plant to draw attention away from deporting one of the primary suspects in the Boston bombings.

Let’s NOT let him get away with that!

They were never prime suspects, and certainly not when NYP put them on the cover.
