Axelrod: Obama thinks Boston bombings could be related to tax day
Weekly Standard ^

Posted on 04/16/2013 7:24:03 AM PDT by Windy City Conservative

In explaining why President Obama didn't call the Boston bombings a "terrorist attack," former adviser David Axelrod said, "I'm sure what was going through the president's mind is -- we really don't know who did this -- it was tax day":

"The word has taken on a different meaning since 9/11," Axelrod said of the phrase "terrorist attack."

"You use those words and it means something very specific in people's mind. And I'm sure what was going through the president's mind is -- we really don't know who did this -- it was tax day. Was it someone who was pro--you know, you just don't know. And so I think his attitude is, let's not put any inference into this, let's just make clear that we're going to get the people responsible."

I think what is going through both jackasses’ minds is damn, this is going to take the steam out of Immigration and Gun Confiscation activities....national focus is now in Boston. In fact, his maximum eminence was on a tele conference about gun control when this happened. He did not look POed by the bombing, more annoyed because he had to give a national address which had nothing to do with his agenda.

And of course someone pissed off about paying taxes would naturally think that The Boston Marathon runners are to blame...(eye roll).

Wow. I didn’t realize there was an IRS building at the same exact spot as the boston marathon finish line. What a coincidence? :-).

The runners all carry their completed returns 26.2 miles and then continue to run right into the IRS building to drop them off.

Throwing out the spin for the people, can’t have the people coming together you know to grieve and find out who was behind the terror attack. Listen to what the doctors are reporting will tell you what has happened.

The talking points from the talking heads in the news briefing this morning are claiming only the two devices which exploded were involved. They are discounting the reports of three other devices (can’t involve multiple people if there are only two devices, I guess). What happened to the reports of the fire/explosion at the JFK Library?

I said in another thread, this could be Obama's Kristallnacht...the opportunity to lay down some serious new directives against those on the right.

I think Obama knows very well that as the anti-american, unconstitutional, socialist that he is, he has really upset about half the population, which want him out of there at any cost. Therefore, you could be right. He is awaiting the right opportunity to step on the gas pedal of socialist reforms, and the complete destruction of the U.S., and attacking conservatives with legal law enforcement means, would just be a bonus.

He is an enemy of these United States.

I doubt that the bombing had to do with anything other than a large gathering of people on public streets. And a highly publicized gathering, at that. As you said - opportunity.

Why not an Occupy anarchist?

That would be inconvenient for Liz Warren (who "created much of the intellectual foundation for what they do").

In this morning's press conference with Law Enforcement, Mini-me, and Mumbles, her big contribution was to gush that we didn't have to call the president - he reached out to us!

Sickening.

After I heard JFK’s library was bombed, it wasn’t hard to connect the dots. I’m betting on African muslims: Who is America oppressing over there?

Remarks at a Reception Marking African Freedom Day.
April 15, 1961

Mr. Secretary, Ambassadors, Members of the United States Congress, ladies and gentlemen:
I want to say, speaking personally and as President of the United States, that it is the greatest possible pleasure to join with you today in celebrating this most important occasion. I think the fact that there are so many Members of the House and Senate here from the Hill, and so many members of the United States Government, indicates our great interest, our profound attachment to the great effort which the people of Africa are making in working towards political freedom, and also working towards a better life for their people.
We also are a revolutionary country, and a revolutionary people, and therefore though many thousands of miles of space may separate our continent from the continent of Africa, today we feel extremely close.
I think that the preoccupation of the United States with the cause of freedom not only here but around the world has been one of the most important facets of our national life. All of our early revolutionary leaders I think echoed the words of Thomas Jefferson that “the disease of liberty is catching.” And some of you may remember the exchange between Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Paine. Benjamin Franklin said, “Where freedom lives, there is my home.” And Thomas Paine said, “Where freedom is not, there is my home.” I think all of us who believe in freedom feel a sense of community with all those who are free, but I think we also feel an even stronger sense of community with those who are not free but who some day will be free.
I must say as an American that I can think that all of us in this country can find continued inspiration and I think all of you who are citizens of countries who have newly emerged to freedom; can find some inspiration in the Farewell Address of George Washington.
Washington wrote the address in 1796, in order to eliminate himself as a candidate for a third term, but most importantly to give some guidance to our new Republic. His text, his speech, is alive with the spirit of liberty. It speaks of a union of States as a political fortress against the batteries of internal and external enemies. It counsels against adopting hasty improvisations at the expense of principles which thus might undermine what cannot be directly overthrown.
There is wisdom and foresight in Washington’s instructions to cherish public credit and to promote as an object of primary importance institutions for the general diffusion of knowledge. Washington told our forefathers in this country to reject permanent, inveterate antipathies against particular nations and passionate attachments for others, and said any nation failing in this is in some degree a slave. He warned against foreign influences which seek to tamper with domestic factions, to practice the arts of seduction, to mislead public opinion. His rule for commercial relations was to have with them as little political connection as possible.
Every year in the United States Senate we read his speech, and we still get great benefit from it. I hope that in your experiences you will also get benefit from it. I want to stress today that we look to the future with the greatest degree of confidence and hope, and I hope that the people of your continent recognize that we wish to be associated intimately with them, that we wish for them the same things we wish for ourselves: peace, the opportunity to develop our own institutions in our own way, to be independent not only politically but in all of the other kinds of independence which make up important national security.
Your brightest days are still ahead. I believe ours are, also. And I hope when the history of these times is written - when the history of the decade of the Sixties will be written, they will record a more intimate and closer attachment year by year between your countries of Africa and this country of the United States.

NOTE: The President spoke at 11:37 a.m. in the Drawing Room of the State Department Auditorium. His opening words “Mr. Secretary” referred to Secretary of State Dean Rusk.
The diplomatic reception was held by Secretary Rusk for African ambassadors accredited to Washington and their staffs. Among the guests were Members of Congress and the Supreme Court and Government officials.
African Freedom Day was originally proclaimed in a resolution of the first Conference of Independent African States at Accra in April 1958.

This is the problem with committed leftwing ideologues. They skew everything through their narrow prism. It is true Obama, most of hi administration, the leftist media, and the entertainment business. There is no reality anymore. We are being fed an alternative reality.

"And of course someone pissed off about paying taxes would naturally think that The Boston Marathon runners are to blame...(eye roll)."

If anything, overachieving runners on "Patriot's Day" should have more of a conservative bias than a liberal one. I could believe the anti-tax aspect if it was an IRS building, but not the Boston Marathon. "Opportunity" is an excellent thought, since unlike a football game, because of the distance involved, access to a marathon needs to be more open to the public. So is "Israel Independence Day".

Axelrod: Obama thinks Boston bombings could be related to tax day

Exactly....While the Tea Party was harmlessly dropping crates of tea into Boston Harbor to protest the taxes...the Zerobama administration set off the bombs to create a media diversion...and it worked! There was absolutely no coverage of the Tea Party dumping the tea into Boston Harbor. Anyway, that's my theory, and I'm sticking to it.

Tax Day vs Patriots Day

Sorry but the few states that recognise Patriots Day see it as Patriot’s Day first and tax day does not even go through their mind.

Somebody needs to tell Obama that the marathon is run because its Patriots Day and is not a tax celebration marathon.
