Boehner: I Don't Need GOP to Pass Gun Law...

On Thursday, in the midst of ongoing national debate over prospective gun control and comprehensive immigration legislation, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) said that he didn’t need the approval of a majority of his own party to move forward with legislation. Referring to the so-called Hastert Rule, named after former House Speaker Denny Hastert (R-IL), which dictated that House leadership not bring up any bill for a vote without the support of a majority of the majority party, Boehner said, “Listen: It was never a rule to begin with.”

Then, realizing the gravity of admitting that he could move without a majority of his own party, Boehner added, “And certainly my prerogative – my intention is to always pass bills with strong Republican support.”

I got a fundraising call from the Reps asking for money for Doc Hastings, my district congressman. The lady said Doc was sort of against gun control and send them big bucks to stop Obama. She was very persistent, almost obnoxious. I said no and hung up. She did not mention that Doc supported TARP and has voted three times to keep funding Obamacare. After reflection, if the Reps call again, my position is that I will not support the Reps, as long as Mr Boehner is the Speaker. Mr. Boehner is the problem and the issue, and he should be made the poster wimp for weak, compromised Republican Party failures. Only a liberal Democrat could support the Mainstream GOP.

You’re correct Houghton M. Boehner exists only because Michelle Bachmann and the others in the Tea Party caucus refuse to draw a line in the sand. They have more clout than they realize, but too many of them are trying to play both sides of the fence: stick to conservative principles while appeasing the leadership in hope of a future committee or leadership position. The Tea Party caucus lost credibility when it refused to stand up the GOP-e in January when it expelled several conservative representatives from committee positions. To me, Bachmann is the biggest disappointment. She could have used the profile she gained during the Presidential primaries to take a true leadership stance in the GOP caucus to oppose Boehner’s cowardice, but she has been very muted.

OK, tell us how many Standing Speakers have been turned out of the Speakership? If a greater majority of CONSERVATIVES get elected in 2014, there could be an effective challenge to Boehner.

Regrettably the Tea Party was taken over or claimed by kooks and as a result now has minimal tangible support like when it started.

It can be argued that slavery was like the import of zebra mussels or the chestnut fungus, a biological disaster in the making.

The making is being felt now.

The GOP is up against a well organized coalition of Blacks, Latinos, Feminists, Gays and other assorted perverts, baby killers (abortionists), Government Workers, Union Members, Environmental Extremists, The Media, Hollywood, uninformed young people, the “forever needy,” the chronically unemployed, illegal aliens and other “fellow travelers” within the Democrat Party that adds up to a majority of the American population, and all the GOP seems to want to do is bicker among themselves.

This 2nd Amendment infringement movement sure is revealing who the traitors are in the GOP.

For sure.

How to Pay In Full, is my question. Maybe death of the culture that participated is the only way.

Hopefully, true democracy or rather our good version Representative Republic 2.0 will make good use to avoid the faults that are bringing down Representative Republic 1.0.

We sure as hell don’t need anymore gun laws. What we do need is for Democrats to get a handle on their constituency and keep them from robbing and murdering law-abiding citizens.

Something very insidious is going on in DC right now, folks. People who swore and oath to uphold and defend our Constitution are blatantly and outright abrogating their responsibilities to do so.

I think we are seeing the fruits of oppositional research. The turncoat Republicans' skeletons have been unearthed and are being used against them.

It would not surprise me if Boehner makes some kind a deal with Democrats to exit his post in lavish remuneration of the undisclosed kind.

He will get the job as BO’s caddy and food taster and also fill in as joebamas straight man...(that is straight as in old time Comedians relied on a straight (sexual preference aside) man to be successful).)

"Why does any group select a leader who openly and blantantly defy the wishes of the group he supposesly represents?"

Because the "group" gets most of its money from constituents who are in favor of gun control (peasant control). The "group" wants the votes from the rabble, but the "group" also wants the big money from the political/regulator class very much. Don't be afraid to finally start voting out incumbents one term after another.

Read the following. See what was done, and to whom. Then you’ll know in advance, what compromises they’re going to make and whose Second Amendment right will be violated nationwide (trivial records to NICS database for arbitrary discretion, middle and upper-middle class, etc.). Or don’t, and see the consequences up close before long.

“Basically, it’s the Third Party nuke option and it’s time to deploy it. Boner’s had way too many chances to shape up.”

It is time for a third party. If there is a 2016 election Hillary Clinton will be elected. Women will turn out in record numbers to elect the first female president and the rest of the Dem base will be united behind her. Anyone who believe Rubio, the Cuban American, at the head of the Republican ticket will draw the primarily Mexican American Hispanic vote from the Republican Party is kidding themselves. In any even it looks like Jeb Bush is preparing (like Dole, McCain, and Romney) to take the fall for the party in 2016 in that the establishment knows no one can beat Hillary. I’m expecting them to run Jeb at the top of the ticket and Rubio as VP. This sets up Rubio for 2020.

Of course the RINO establishment will expect the conservative base to turn out for the Congressional elections and will once again tell us they are better than the alternative. However, since 2010 they’ve done a good job of proving they are not better than the alternative. Instead they’ve shown they are willing collaborators with the Dems.

The only choice for Conservatives is to form a new party, thereby splitting the Republican Party. This likely means Democrats in control of both Congress and the White House in 2014 and 2016. However, if the nation is going to have a chance to pull out of the down spiral, the majority of the people have to hold the Democrats accountable for the condition of the country. Due to the ineptness of Boehner, McConnell, Romney, Rove and the rest of the establishment, Obama, the media and the Dems have gotten away with blaming the economy and the malaise on the Republicans who are actually compromising at every turn.

Splitting the Republican Party may actually turn out to be a better thing than the current situation. Lets say in 2014 the Dems capture 49% of the vote in the House, the traditional Republicans capture 35% and the new conservative party captures 16%. Pelosi becomes Speaker by getting 3 or 4 RINOs to vote with the Dems. Now the Dems are accountable but Pelosi will have to struggle to put together coalitions with either the Republicans or Conservatives to secure majority votes. If a number of traditional Republicans go all in to help Pelosi, they’ll face strong opposition in 2016 from a real Conservative candidate.

Look at history. The Republican Party went from newly organized to winning the White House in less than a decade. In a decade a new Conservative Party can be built and offer a real alternative to Democrat socialism. The current Republican Party will never offer that alternative and the Bush/Romney/Rove power structure will not cede power to conservatives internally. The only hope now is for a third party.

When the only difference between Boehner and Pelosi is the speed getting to the end result of the erosion of my rights and the country’s sovereignty why let the RINO Boehner stay in charge?

I'm thinking Boehner was caught in bed with SC's John Roberts.
