Boehner: I Don't Need GOP to Pass Gun Law...

On Thursday, in the midst of ongoing national debate over prospective gun control and comprehensive immigration legislation, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) said that he didn’t need the approval of a majority of his own party to move forward with legislation. Referring to the so-called Hastert Rule, named after former House Speaker Denny Hastert (R-IL), which dictated that House leadership not bring up any bill for a vote without the support of a majority of the majority party, Boehner said, “Listen: It was never a rule to begin with.”

Then, realizing the gravity of admitting that he could move without a majority of his own party, Boehner added, “And certainly my prerogative – my intention is to always pass bills with strong Republican support.”

Why does any group select a leader who openly and blantantly defy the wishes of the group he supposesly represents?
Occam's Razor would indicate he's not defying their wishes.

It's possible he's doing exactly what the members want him to....take the flak and allow the rest of them to maintain their conservative bona fides. That way they can loudly protest any non-conservative legislation then admit (oh so reluctantly) that they're powerless to stop anything.

All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players

I think it is so cute that so many people still think there is a political solution to our current situation. It is Summer of 1939 and September is a comin’. Prepare accordingly.

The problem is that WE are the government, but our Representatives, those we supposedly elected to maintain our Constitutional Republic, are turning coat and destroying it in the name of money and power.

We’ve given them too much money, power, and blood. It really is time for us to take our country back or die at the hands of bureaucrats.

Ideally, I’d prefer the Tea Party Caucus tell Boehner and the rest of the so called leadership to step down or they’ll leave the party and turn the whole shooting match over to Pelosi. The GOP isn’t the party of Reagan any longer and until they figure out that’s why they’re losing elections I can’t support it any longer.

You got that right!

I called on my rep (Pete Olson - TX 22) to vote against retaining Boehner as Speaker in January. Olson chose to vote against my wishes. As a result, Olson will no longer get my support at all and I am working to see to it that he is defeated in the 2014 primary race.

“You are either with us, or you are against us” is my rule.

Something very insidious is going on in DC right now, folks. People who swore and oath to uphold and defend our Constitution are blatantly and outright abrogating their responsibilities to do so.

FWIW, I believe that both parties were in on Obama stealing the last election. And I believe it is because they pretty much knew that if Obama lost our cities would burn, possibly followed by anarchical civil war. They whole country was like an open gas can and we were playing with matches.

I am still dumbfounded about how he recently got re-elected as House Speaker. We need the roll call of votes and get rid of those responsible for propping up this traitor. Heads need to roll people.

That’s right.

I believe that our Forefathers were correct when they warned us about our government getting to the point where they no longer bend to the Will of The People.

Perhaps it is time for US to cast this government aside.

I’m not talking about overthrowing Boehner in his congressional election.

I’m talking about a revolt against his House leadership position. Call his bluff. He needs the Tea Party congressmen. He intimidates them by telling them to go along with his crap or face his wrath (committee memberships and all the other perks he controls as Speaker). Call his bluff. Threaten to unseat him as Speaker.

He can’t run the House if he alienates 20% of his caucus. He keeps them in line by telling them to go along to get along. They have a veto-block, in the big picture. Use it to intimidate him back from the precipice.

Boo-freaking-hoo. The Liberals set themselves up for this catastrophe. Cities SHOULD burn if their electorate is so unstable as to be riotous. The armed citizen will be prepared to fight back an invasion of racists.

The theft of America will go down as the catalyst for the decline of everything for which this nation once stood, and that’s only if those who write the history are on our side.

That’s exactly what I meant. Call his bluff. Tell him he stops screwing them over or they hand his speakership to Pelosi. He thinks they wouldn’t dare do it. Let him call their bluff and see what happens.

It could not be worse to have Pelosi back in charge than to have a Quisling in charge. We ARE getting screwed over right now.

Basically, it’s the Third Party nuke option and it’s time to deploy it. Boner’s had way too many chances to shape up.

Ship the bastard out.

The salvation of America is burning cities. Until the vermin are dead, they will continue the national destruction.

He doesn’t need the R’s because he doesn’t advance any of the R party principles anyway.

(This guy is intelligent and could be a real HERO of the American people if he would only start doing his job ... Does he think he’s in that position to serve as a third-rate rubber stamp for the Obama Transformation of Amerika?)

I think we should apply your principle to ALL legislation that is blatantly unconstitutional.

Healthcare?

Gun bans?

Tax on Tea?

Massive non-compliance.

The NRA and GOA could be a big help in removing Boehner.... no support from them until Boehner is ousted.

There is too much strangeness going on to respond with a knee-jerk. Senate Repubs suddenly clearing the way for a Senate vote towards gun confiscation. Boehner's seemingly incomprehensible remarks suggesting he's ready for the House to pass a Senate gun-grab. Does not make any sense on face value.

I expect a blizzard of amendments in the Senate that make passage impossible. And as for 2014, the way the Repubs are proceeding puts every Dem on the record regarding gun-grabbing. The Dems play the long game. We should, too.
