14,000 Idle Wind Turbines a Testament to Failed Energy Policies
The New American ^ | Apr. 11, 2013 | Bob Adelmann

Posted on 04/12/2013 8:32:43 AM PDT by EXCH54FE

When Element Power announced on April 10 the closing of a deal to build wind turbines for Blackrock in Ireland, nothing was said about the more than 14,000 other wind turbines lying idle around the world.

Nothing was said about Element’s recent termination of another deal to build 40 wind turbines over 4,000 acres on top of Black Lava Butte and Flat Top Mesa in California, citing in its “request to relinquish” that there were “insufficient wind resources” to make that project viable.

Those 14,000 wind turbines lying idle in California’s Altamont Pass, Tehachapin, and San Gorgonio areas and elsewhere around the world are testimony to the continuing and accelerating failure of hope over experience, funded with taxpayer monies. And these areas were selected as being “in the best wind spots on earth,” which are now, according to Natural News writer Jonathan Benson, just “spinning, post-industrial junk which generates nothing but bird kills.”

Wind farms do not generate electricity on any commercially competitive level.

It’s a Ponzi scheme, concluded Delingpole, promoted as a way to siphon funds from those taxpayers into the pockets of investment managers like BlackRock and manufacturers like Element Power, despite evidence that such “investments” have no chance whatever of returning a profit with them. Delingpole explained:

The evidence for man-made global warming is vanishingly small, to the point of non-existence. The only people predicting disastrous man-made climate-change catastrophe are computer modelers and economists who are part of this green Ponzi scheme....

[Wind power] is … a catastrophic failure of judgment. [It is] stupendously inefficient and ludicrously expensive.... So unreliable are wind turbines — thanks to the wind’s constant vagaries — that they are one of the most inefficient means of producing electricity ever devised.

But what will happen to those idle wind turbines that now reflect nothing more than a standing graveyard of reminders to a failed ideology?

One of my farmers showed me the contract that at the end the foundations would be removed to 16 inches below ground level.

I smiled and thought it sounds good but there isn’t going to be any money left at the end.........................

In any other industry that requires the use of large tacts of land, ie mining, logging, a very hefty bond is required and a reclamation plan is submitted for review and approval.

It looks like wind farming, which is currently in favor, is not required to jump through the same regulatory hoops that the rest of the dirty industries have to.

If the mining industry blighted the landscape as much as these stupid turbines do, there would be a public outcry.

If there’s not enough money to maintain them, where will the money come from to tear them down?

Let the word leak out that they have lots of copper in them, and watch them disappear overnight.

A couple years ago, near “the city of evil” in Central NYState, I had an extensive conversation with a liberal activist. She had been very active in the Seattle area as far as beating the bushes FOR wind power.

Something like five years later, she had moved here, and was adamantly against building ANY windmills. No need to go into the reasons why,,, they are all the common sense things conservatives such as you and I have known all along.

She has been very active in the movement in opposition here - - - - good thing since there are not any where near the number of conservatives needed to defeat such “green” movements.

Even if they worked, they still need to be replaced every 10 to 20 years.

But it will take 815 years to recoup the original investment (at 0% interest).

Wind has never been profitable. Hence the subsidy.

(You are correct about the effects of exports on NG prices)

The effort is one of the schemes to redistribute. The method is not completely efficient inthat all of the proceeds don’t end up as loot.

It’s clear then that the evidence against wind farming will just continue to pile up at taxpayers’ expense until finally the sham is sufficiently exposed, or governments sufficiently chastened, or taxpayers sufficiently angered, to end the subsidies.

Your service.
