(Newser) – There's no love lost between Ann Coulter and Meghan McCain, but this may be their biggest spat yet. It all started with Coulter's latest column, which focused on gun control, Mediaite reports. Coulter wrote:
Needless to say, this did not sit well with the McCain family. "My father is a very famous politician. My family gets a lot of threats. Joking about me being killed really isn’t funny or appropriate," McCain tweeted, adding that she was "disgusted" even though she "should expect nothing less" from Coulter. McCain's mom Cindy also chimed in on Twitter, calling Coulter "despicable," "crazy," and "sick." Salon notes that Fox News removed the offending Coulter column from its site after the brouhaha erupted.
That would be putting both of them to their best and highest use.
Nobody seems very upset with MSNBC’s Martin Bashir for originating the concept. Besides, it’s not necessary for someone to harpoon McQueeg’s daughter: He’s already on board with the gun grabbers.

I am thinking Ann’s bank account is down to about two zeros since conservatives don’t buy her crappy books anymore. She comes across as desperately trying to shock and awe. Problem is, reality is so whacked out these days, Ann’s schtick seems mild.
I kinda expect her to convert to liberalism and try to make money that way.
She may have to go back to “work”. Doesn’t she have a law degree or something?

Coulter mentions one name, and the McCains come out gunning for Coulter.
Coulter named their name. She made it personal. So of course they respond. Wouldn't you if it were your family?
Martin Bashir is a nobody. But there could have been a controversy about this if people like Ann had wanted to make one.
Instead, it was Ann Coulter who gave him a pass and used the occasion to attack the McCains.
If somebody you don't like is making a fool or a disgrace out of himself, maybe people notice on their own, or maybe they don't, but you don't get in the way of that as Ann did and redirect the controversy to somebody else (not unless you're crazy about publicity yourself -- or just crazy).
