A sizable number of Americans think the federal government is coming after their guns.

Forty-four percent (44%) of Likely U.S. Voters believe it is at least somewhat likely that the government will try to confiscate all privately owned guns over the next generation or so, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. Fifty percent (50%) feel gun confiscation is unlikely. This includes 20% who think the government is Very Likely to make this move and 23% who say it’s Not At All Likely...

--snip--

The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted on March 30-31, 2013 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC...

Obviously, too many low information voters are unaware of the attempt to confiscate registered so called "assault weapons" in New York City(NYC). It began with registration of long guns in the mid 1960s. In the early 1990s so called "assault weapons" were banned in NYC. (One of the advantages of being born in the nuthouse that is NYC is that you witness their idiocy up close and personal.)

74% Think Americans Have Constitutional Right To Own A Gun

This link is found in "RELATED ARTICLES" at the source. The left is at war with human nature, common sense and the U.S. Constitution. The RINOs are right behind the left!

It is more like 75% but this is rasmussen... and his polling as of late is absolutely crazy IMHO.

Dirty little secret from someone who grew up in the Bronx:

All those gun bans that NYC has are ignored by many restaurants(in the kitchen), bars(underneath), store(under the counter) as well as many in the City.

I’ve seen some serious arsenals in NYC that would make a good Texan green with envy.

unaware of the attempt to confiscate registered

It was more than an attempt. They ended up confiscating all of those that had not been gotten rid of or rendered inoperative or turned in to police. As I remember there were approximately 45 people who didn't comply with this unconstitutional seizure. Of those about 35 - 40 were paperwork errors, but about 8 or so were arrested and their fireams seized

Based on Rasmussen’s Presidentail Polling for 2012. I think he should get into the insurance business.

Thanks for the correction. One of my best friends had to sell his AR-15. I was at Fort Benning, Georgia at the time, so I didn't catch all of the stories.

There's a REASON the DHS purchased over a billion rounds of ammo, and more than 2,000 anti tank trucks. Now, why do you suppose that is, hmmmm? (Yes, that's a rhetorical question.

Be very suspicious when a president or the Congress tells you that they will “never” do something.

The income tax was never going to be levied on the Middle Class, only The Rich, and it would never exceed 3%. Lyndon Johnson said Medicare would cost $9 Billion a year, and now it is 100 times that amount. Obama says the government will not take your guns, but it will keep a registry of who owns them. I’m sure there will never be a crisis in which they will appear at your door to collect your weapons, as they did in Hurricane Katrina.

Whoever trusts government is too gullible to be taken seriously.

As for what it would take for confiscation, California now has an ongoing confiscation program for people who own registered guns (how convenient) but become ineligible due to a conviction or mental issue. From what I read, they send nine cops at night to surround the house, then knock. I don't know if anyone has ever tried to fight them yet, but a single sleepy person would definitely lose that fight.

If there were social unrest and people getting organized, it would probably explain why an armored vehicle might be handy.

California now has an ongoing confiscation program

That crap started with the SKS. They said "we just want to know where they are". Well, know they did.....THEN they said they were illegal, hand them in.

California is a lost cause. As is CT, as of yesterday.

This would be an ill-advised move on the part of the government, as it will be met with great, how you say, resistance. Our evil, low-IQ rulers in Washington and some of our state houses have foolishly decided to provoke the wrong group of people with this issue.

The 2A is a guarantee to the people that we retain the ability to overthrow the government in the event it becomes a tyranny. As such, no law infringing on the right to bear arms can be instituted. That is obvious (can’t have the fox guarding the henhouse) but it was enshrined into the Constitution just in case.

All attempts by government to make law to infringe on our natural right to have guns is treason. These “lawmakers” have sworn an oath to uphold the Constitution. When they self-servingly attempt to restrict our rights, they are traitorous foxes. If we let them do it, we become the chickens.

I've heard the arsenals in Chicago on New Years Eve. It sounds like a war zone from about a minute before midnight and keeps up for a good half hour.

“44% Think Government Effort to Confiscate All Guns Likely”

Hmmm. 65% of everyone I know think it’s likely that we’re about to confiscate all government weapons.
