Gun Vanity: Ruger SR1911, before leaving Connecticut
Vanity ^ | April 4th, 2013 | DTogo

Looking at the Ruger SR1911 - while it's (still) legal here in CT.

Would also welcome knowledgable/experienced FReeper input on relocation options for those able to leave Connecticut.

Preferably somewhere warmer, but not sweltering, family/tax/gun friendly, with some elbow room to enjoy life. Overseas is not off the table.

I would suggest AZ, but the place has gotten so watered down with New England transplants we have more Dem reps than GOP. I have no representative...I have a Dem who’s a self-described radical prog who’s bisexual. The Stupid Party got rolled by the Dems on the redistricting commission.

My daughter is going to University of OK-Tulsa, was down visiting her and son-in-law a couple of weeks ago. Been introduced to East Gate Baptist, Charlie's Chicken, and they have the closest Whataburger. Applied at Skiatook too.

Overseas is not off the table.

It should be if you intend to take your firearms.......

While a number of countries claim to approve of firearm ownership, you might be better off trying to obtain a CPL in Chicago........

I'd avoid central and south America like the plague, with the exception of Panama and Belize. All the rest are falling to drug lords, drug trafficing and kidnappings.......

If you're interested in Honduras, my brother-in-law has 15 acres with 400 ft. of ocean frontage along the coast in Trujillo for sale..........

Skiatook is a nice area. I’m not familiar with East Gate Baptist. I’m glad you got to enjoy some Charlie’s Chicken. Hm, it’s been too long since I’ve had me some chunks.

Yeah. It’s not a place for weaklings. Actually, I’ve never seen a tornado. That’s not to say they’re uncommon. Make no mistakes, and don’t let anyone deceive you. The weather here stinks.

Would love to take a look at Idaho myself, but the better half wants warmer weather.

You can come to Texas as long as you leave any and all liberal ideas behind. Oh BTW, bring more water.

As mentioned earlier, Belize is being vacationed in and investigated (for relocation purposes) by a good friend. I can at least respect another country's gun laws as their gun laws, not Socialists here watering down the Constitution by simple majority vote and daring us to slog through expensive challenges in crap-shoot courts.

FReepmail me about the 15 acres if you'd like, but as you said, most countries down there are pretty dangerous.

You're right and I won't.......My BIL is from Honduras and he and the family refuse to go back there on vacations, which they used to do annually.......

Try Tennessee, 3d freest after N and S Dakota. No income tax, great gun laws, great weather. Just stay away from Memphis and Nashville.... Dems rule there.

Wow, that’s a solid endorsement for Honduras, their own people won’t go home!

A friend here in CT is actually looking hard at TN, but it would a be little too out of the way from my current work-related activities.

Texas is like a whole nother country. A free one at that.

As a fellow native Californio, now transplanted to Texas, I really appreciate you saying that, boss.

PLEASE leave CT and N/E “Ideas” and “ways” of doing things in CT and the N/E.

I hardly think you need to give such a warning any Freeper. Tell them to pass that warning on to their less-than-conservative neighbors who might be eying red states.

Texas has lost the cities to Cali, so that is a no.

There's plenty of red country left outside the big cities in Texas. More than you can possibly imagine.
