North Korea seen moving mid-range missile to east coast: reports

SEOUL | Wed Apr 3, 2013 9:13pm EDT

(Reuters) - North Korea has moved what appears to be a mid-range Musudan missile to its east coast, South Korea's Yonhap news agency said on Thursday, quoting multiple government sources privy to intelligence from U.S. and South Korean authorities.

It was not clear if the missile was mounted with a warhead or whether the North was planning to fire it or was just putting it on display as a show of force, one South Korean government source was quoted as saying.

Yup, thanks Tiger. I’m sure a lot of us have been looking for some perspective not available here.

Sometimes the more I read the more I wish I had not read ... From Article am Posting from December 19, 2012 ... Do the North Korean Space Objects Pose a Threat? Not right now, and maybe not ever. All four North Korean space objects are in normal, predictable orbits and are being tracked regularly by both the US military and amateur observers around the world. http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2012-12/19/north-korean-satellite?page=all ... Note there are four NK space objects according to article.

It sounds like SK and Japan have had it and if NK tries shooting at them this time they will get a big unwanted present.

I think the more concerning issue is what to do with the millions of North Koreans now free to flood China and South Korea.

That would be the South Korea's problem. I want our troops out of Korea and the whole blackmail thing to end with Norks. I think it is hideous that our government has sent large quantities of food and fuel to the Norks every time they throw a tantrum. It is not good for the North Korean people as it only props up a communist regime. That is a value thing. Call me crazy, but I rather fight while I am starving and cold than live where I have no freedom. North Koreans should have had that motivation long ago and we have only prolonged their suffering by helping prop up North Korea.

I was just thinking that San francisco deserves it more than other areas of CA.

Not Guam, then. Tokyo perhaps. The east coast of NK is very close to Japan.

For those who think this is an unprecedented escalation, consider the ROKS Cheonan in 2010.

There’s more going on here than we know. China also has an untested leader without full control, and China/NK military ties are close. Hardline elements in the PLA may be pushing NK toward confrontation for unknown reasons.

Great. My daughter is going to Japan at the end of the month for 3 weeks to visit a friend. Now I’m totally freaked out about her trip. Tell me I’m over-reacting, please.

I must admit that I’m starting to find this pretty spooky.More so because of the lightweight who currently holds the title of Community Organizer-In-Chief.”The call comes at 3AM...hello,this is Osama Obama,I’m at a fundraiser right now...”

At least we have a highly experienced, top rate Secretary of Da Fence advising obama of what to do. (that is once he gets off the 18th green.) And just think how bad this situation would already be if John Kerry wasn't on top of things. He was in Viet Nam, you know.

Sad that a tenth rate, nothing of a nation can now do this to what was until just recently, the greatest military power on earth.

"Allies promise that they can provide guaranteed defense. Many are skeptical."

Koreans have good reasons to be skeptical, but there are several layers of defense against large missiles--not only one layer. You also see in the skies, that the artillery of the North would be quieted as quickly as possible.

"They all feel that they have to take the matters in their own hand, even if it is rather late. So they want SK's own nuclear deterrent."

South Korean people would be most disciplined, responsible and dependable with nuclear weapons. Our world would be a better place. I would trust you.

But TLR, free Koreans of the South have a very old and great strength. I know that strength is in you. I am very near a sensitive installation, friend. Let's look at the sky and smile. It's a great day to be free Koreans and Americans! May we become stronger and better each day than the day before.

In the event North Korea tries to provoke South Korea with an another artillery barrage incident, I would suggest the South Korean Government should purchase a few million Samsung DVD players with batteries and appropriate DVD videos of Sotuh Korean society and worldwide socities to be used in a DVD bombardment of North Korea. When the North Korean people learn the truth, the North Korean regime will crumble like an ice sculpture in a hot Gobi Desert summer.

Have you heard if all of the South Koreans have made it safely back across the border? I would hate to see them become hostages. It’s going to be hard to get people to go there ever again after this settles down. (one way or another)

It’s the waves of artillery that Seoul needs to worry about. If the Norks have what they say they have and it’s all under hardened bunkers, a nuke is probably the best option but I doubt Barry has it in him.

The nukes the Norks have will be used on military targets because they need Seoul as a bargaining chip.

My nephew’s girlfriend returned home to Korea in March so we are more than a little concerned too.
