WINDHAM, N.H. (CBS) – Dodgeball has been bounced in Windham.

The classic gym class game has been a rite of passage for years, but dodgeball may have met its match in the form of the Windham School board, which at a recent meeting voted 4-1 to end dodgeball and other so-called “human target” activities, games with names like bombardment and slaughter.

“Murderball” and “Smear the Queer” were widely played playground games when I was a kid.

I remember "smear the queer"... ROFL!!!!

Ever play it with a basketball or football? That makes things fun!

I think “Live Free or Die” died.

It's now "Live FOR Free or Die."

LOL. That's how I first learned the term 'queer'.

"What's a queer?" Parents - "That's not a nice word, don't use it." Friends - "A fag" (back then meant a boy who acts like a girl.)

When I was a kid we used to play bombardment in gym class, with each team also having to defend three bowling pins placed in a triangular pattern.

You could win either by knocking out all the opposing players or knocking down all three of their pins. If you got the head pin at the top of the triangle you could move forward past the center line about fifteen feet to a mark taped on the gym floor.

So you could actually come up behind an opposing player if he or she wasn’t watching and both teams could cross the center line.

The game was AWESOME. We loved it.

"I’d like to see them try to ban Calvinball! One of the key aspects of the game is that the rules change every time. :)"

Ha...that Calvin, and his friend Hobbs, really knew how to have a good time!

I think I'll change some rules today!

First - it is okay to eat ice cream for breakfast!

It started in NYC and spread. The Damned place should have been walled off and quarantined 100 years ago.

"When lack of movement results in pain, you learn to move your ass."

Second rule of Dodgeball: You learn to move your ass!

I loved Dodgeball. My elementary teachers always told my parents that I was so smart and polite that it was a joy to have me in their class.

I played them, I guess, because I was a total menace in Dodgeball.

If I hadn't had two hips replaced and didn't have a bad knee, I'd play today! HA on me with new hips and bad knee!

But, I still have sweet Dodgeball memories... <8^)

"The have to wear helmets and the ball is a Nurf ball."

Why even play if helmets and Nurf balls are used?!

No helmets and red rubber gym balls are at the part and core of Dodgeball.

If Dodgeball dies, we will mourn. <8^[

The kids protected from the evils of dodgeball will go home and play violent video games. Violent video games will not be banned because Hollywood makes too much money selling them. So much for the hypocrisy of the progressives.

Let’s also harken back to a quote from an equally venerated sports film – Bad News Bears in Breaking Training: “Let them Play”

"The game was AWESOME. We loved it."

Sounds like a pretty good time you had!

Again, if it wasn't for the hip surgeries and a bad knee, I'd gladly play today.

But, I'm a pretty pure Dodgeball aficionado player - no rules!
