CNN) -- Police released new documents related to the shootings last year at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut, but a motive for the attack by the troubled young man remained elusive.

Included in the information released Thursday is the report that a gun safe was found in the bedroom of 20-year-old Adam Lanza, who took guns belonging to his mother, Nancy, and shot her in her forehead in her bed. Then he went to the school in Newtown, where he gunned down 20 children and six staff members before killing himself.

Investigators found more than 1,600 rounds of ammunition in the house, and a holiday card with a check "made out to Adam Lanza for the purchase of a C183 (firearm), authored by Nancy Lanza," according to a search warrant.

Sixteen hundred rounds of ammo? Big deal. Boy, the media sure are a bunch of breathless bedwetters.

The gas ran out, so the media are now pushing it as far as they can with this tragedy.

Sixteen hundred rounds of ammo? Big deal.

Not even close to the 1.3 billion rounds the DHS recently purchased.

Sixteen hundred rounds of ammo?

That's three bricks and a couple of boxes of .22.

A couple of years ago that wouldn't even have been $50 worth of ammo.

His mother would have bought anything he wanted and passed CT’s background check with flying colors. The ex-con who shot the corrections chief in CO last week had a woman buy the gun for him. She had no problem getting it for him.

This background check legislation is simply a stalking horse for the federal government’s attempt to disarm Americans. It has next to nothing to do with preventing mass shootings by young men hopped up on mind-alterning medications prescribed by doctors.

I’m a little confused by a report this morning, which said that all victims died via .223 rounds fired by a Bushmaster. I thought the Bushmaster was not in the building.

What is the real truth on this? What is the most reliable source?

Another piece of the story that makes no sense. If Lanza was so clearly disturbed as he has been made out to be then his mother had no business arming him the way she did.

Bushmaster in the building. A poster on this site claims to have connections to a emergency service person who knows guns who was on the scene who claims that 5.56 Nato rounds were found

Bushmaster can fire that round

first they said he used a handgun...with the AR in the trunk....

later it was, he used the AR. sounds like the handguns did not fit their modus operandi for what kind of guns they wanted to ban first....

This story has been engraved in lead and will not be changed or modified by authorities...ever. We will never know what really happened and how many really died that day.

What was the purpose of saying he had his own gun safe? What was in it? I have more than 1600 22lr rounds myself. What does 1600 of something have to do with anything? I know less now than I did. Why is CNN allowed to broadcast?

Yep. Leftist extremist so-called "gun control" has always been about two things:

1.) Expressing the leftist extremists' hatred of the Second Amendment and all of us who believe it means exactly what it says.

2.) Disarming the commoners for the sake of state security.

I suspect that his mother was afraid of him to the point that she would give him anything he demanded.

Below is from Hartfords WTIC Radio's AP version.
Read it, to someone with any gun knowledge it makes no sense.

A loaded 12-gauge shotgun was found in the glove compartment of the Honda Civic Lanza drove to the school with two magazines containing 70 rounds of Winchester 12-gauge shotgun rounds.

...just heard it again on top of the hour Fox radio news:

” both he and his mother had certificates from the NRA”

certificate of what?

Do we ever get a list from the media of all eco-terrorists who were Sierra Club members or had Algore’s book or DVD?
